1. They left you and these lands,
While tears still flow for them.
١. هُمْ فَارَقُوكَ وَهذهِ الأَوطانُ
وَلِهُنَّ بَاقي الدَّمْعِ كانَ يُصَانُ
2. Keep your treaties though they broke theirs,
Abandoning you, betraying your trust.
٢. فَاسْقِ المَعَاهِدَ وارْعَ خفَّهُمْ وإنْ
نَقَضُوا عُهودَكَ غَادِرينَ وَخَانوا
3. Do not spare your eyes from weeping after they left,
For what purpose are eyes spared from weeping?
٣. لا تُدخَرُوا الأَجفانُ بَعدَ فرِاقِهمْ
فَلأَي مَعنًى تُذخَرُ الأَجفانُ
4. Had they but lifted the veils, one would not go astray,
Lost in darkness, confused.
٤. وَلَو أنَّهُمْ رَفعوا البَراقِعَ لم يَكُنْ
لِيَضّلَّ تَحتَ دُجُنَّةٍ حَيرانُ
