وجارية ظنناها غلاما

1. A maid we thought a lad,
With languid grace and sprightly tread;

١. وَجَارِيَةٍ ظنَناهَا غُلاماً
بِفَتْرَةِ مُقْلَةٍ وَنَشَاطِ قَدِّ

2. The old man saw, his strength returned,
And joyful at new youth he yearned.

٢. رَآهَا الشَّيْخُ فَانْبَعَثتْ قُواهُ
وَبُشِّرَ بِالشَّبابِ المُسْتَجَدِّ

3. He followed with his gaze, till she
Rebuked, “I think he's from Nejd's lea!"

٣. وَأتبَعَ رِدْفَها نَظَراً فَقَالتْ
أَظُنُّ الشَّيْخَ مِن أَكْنَافِ نَجْدِ
