1. You who ask about me, I am one
Whose generosity has fled, who's become withdrawn,
١. أَيُّها السَّائِلُ عَنّي إنَّني
قَد تَحامى الجُود عَنّي واعتَصَمْ
2. He whom I praise in Rajab is now too proud
So I stay mute, and the month passes unsung.
٢. عَزَّ مَن أَمدحُهُ في رَجبٍ
فَأَنا الأَخْرَسُ والشَّهْرُ الأَصَمْ
