1. My ears long listened to the pillow
The night stretched long, extending the train of darkness
١. طَالَ إصْغَاءُ مَسْمَعي لِلوِسَادِ
طُولَ ليلي أَطَالَ ذَيْلُ السَّوَادِ
2. As if the morn had died, and the stars
Had donned mourning robes over it.
٢. وَكَأَنَّ الصَّباحَ مَاتَ وَقدسَنَّ
تْ عَليهِ النُّجُومُ لُبْسَ الحِدادِ
