1. They said praise so-and-so's religion, for today it is sought after
And there's no harm in that, I say
١. وَقَالُوا امْدَحْ فُلانَ الدِّي
نِ فَهْوَ اليومَ مَقْصُودُ
2. But my soul did not incline to generosity in this way
٢. وَمَافي ذاكَ مِنَ بأْسٍ
فَقُلْتُ لَهُمْ وَلا جُودُ
