1. Whenever we attained it, it was a wish fulfilled for ourselves,

2. And it is not strange that the full moon resides on high,
Nor is it new that the horizon is seen as a dwelling.

3. But the heart of the freeman is thrilled with delight,
So he lavishes praise on the bounties and splendor of the radiance.

4. For the shining full moon has taken its place,
And ruled the horizons of the sky and settled there.

5. So this is how spring honors a garden,
Adorned by the Abbasids, abundant in harvest.

6. Indeed a garden that has become great for every noble one,
And a home for merit, refinement, and knowledge,

7. And a field of competition for glory and ascendance,
When other fields are overgrown with reeds.

8. When a master of high literature departs,
Another approaches the banner, so it does not waver.

9. Recalcitrant metre hurried eagerly towards you,
And yielded to you from the depths of the heart and submitted.

10. You who have released all the shackles,
From poetry, refusing that it be disgraced and imprisoned.

11. When the pure ore calls out to poetry once,
We offer it the finest poetry as its ore.

12. Dusūqī, though I give inadequate praise,
Accept my greeting, for I am not their eulogizer or benefactor.

13. Rather, I am the voice of all the lovers,
And from your esteemed garden and their orchard I have picked fruit.

14. A moth circling the lamp of your glory,
And what moth approaches your majesty without burning?

15. I am but the echo of the whisper in their hearts,
So let me proclaim what they secretly harbor.
