Eulogies are not composed for the living

2. This separation that has become hard on us
Is now on others and the loyal ones

3. An ascension in the ranks of light meeting
Inspiration in it and poetry like an ascension

4. Who says Hafez died has erred
Nay, this cannot be for poets

5. Do not say he passed away nor eulogize him
This is the return of the distant stranger

6. The great poet is indeed a stranger
In the lands of ancestors and forefathers

7. A body in the soil and a wandering soul
Soaring in the heights, flying in the sky

8. And this stranger was returned from
The world to his origin in Gemini

9. How can one who scented eternity with
His poetry perish, in his words the fabric of eternity

10. Oh you the beloved of Mustafa the perfect
And the era is one of affection and torment

11. And a friend who does not waver and loyal in
The straitened times to the loyal ones

12. And wretched oblivious of his growing anguish
And wearing out for others in misery

13. And poor seeing riches and wishes
In the souls' adherence to dignity

14. When the genius desires something he contemplates
Ways above the ability of the strong

15. And sees sickness the weakness of the timid weakling
And misery the argument of the weak

16. Do you see them at the peak of eternity
While you tell us the news

17. The swoop of death called upon
Mustafa the second, so he sacrificed the greatest tribulation

18. And the fertile banner, how much love it gained
Victorious, proud of the banner

19. Rising like the crescent when it appears
In the wing of a moonlit night

20. That carpet which was laid out and spilled over
With the gatherings of the consolers was folded

21. And the nights of serenity pass hurriedly
While death does not tarry with death

22. And a beloved passes after a beloved
I wish I knew what comes after this eulogy

23. And the days are like rubble, agony but
The heart holds on to its dream of meeting
