1. I came knocking at the home of loved ones
And slipped this poem under the door

2. Did I convey all my longing?
And explain my state, O wise ones?

3. O neighbor of the valley, though the valley is my brother
And kindness, favor and gentleness of friends

4. I swear by the bond of affection between us
This visit was not planned by me

5. God may bring together the separated
And we may meet again after long absence
