A house for Hind with tearful farewells and blood

2. A watching eye sheds tears for its remnants
Far, high cheeks from confrontations

3. And I bid it farewell, a charming yellow [maiden]
Who would not refrain from favors in every way

4. A flirting, playful cheek, and a scent
That heals the heart of the sick and weary

5. Oh how my soul yearns for the sale I was determined upon
If I attained it, it would be a growing, profitable sale

6. I want what kept away from me and leave
What was mine from Qais, a total loss

7. My soul is ransom for the favors it is bought for
And for the marauders when they are bent on attacking

8. And a restless night monster
Ravaging the land of the enemy in my misery after favor

9. You gathered from ʿĀmir in it and from Asad
And from Tameem and from Hāʾ and from Hām

10. And you were not pleased for them until you reinforced them
With Waʾil, the clan of Bastaam with stallions

11. In it are the lances and in it each seasoned
Strong, entwined sword from the manufacture of Sallam

12. And each bare steed girded as if a locust
Stroked by palms and watered after feeding

13. And each compliant, unresistant gray
When they are determined to mount at dawn

14. Sought out mares, their troops
Led by an Ashʿari, his glance sublime

15. He does not scare away the birds if crane flocks pass by
Nor does he charge a group without reins
