1. If you seek wealth, then marry
Simak, brother of Ansar, or son of Farqad
١. إِن كُنتِ حاوَلتِ الدَراهِمَ فَاِنكِحي
سِماكا أَخا الأَنصارِ أَو اِبنَ فَرقَدِ
2. And if you seek glory, then choose
Bukayr, when the horses dart from the fray
٢. وَإِن كُنتِ حاوَلتِ الطِعانَ فيممي
بُكَيراً إِذا ما الخَيلُ جالَت عَنِ الرَدي
3. For all are at the peak of glory
But eloquence comes from effort each day
٣. وَكُلُّهُم في ذَروَةِ المَجدِ نازِلٌ
فَشَأنُكُم إِنَّ البَيانَ عَنِ الغَدِ
