ولقد شربت الراح يسطع نورها

1. I drank the wine whose light radiates,
While the night spread its cloak of darkness,

١. وَلَقَد شَربتُ الراح يَسطَعُ نُورُها
وَاللَيلُ قَد مَدَّ الظَلامَ رِداءَ

2. Until the full moon appeared in its apogee,
A king, perfect in splendor and brilliance.

٢. حَتّى تَبدّى البَدرُ في جَوزائِهِ
مَلِكا تَناهى بَهجَةً وَبَهاءَ

3. When it wanted to take an evening stroll in its setting,
It placed the nut-tree its umbrella above it.

٣. لَمّا أَرادَ تَنَزُّها في غَربِهِ
جَعَلَ المظَلَّةَ فَوقَهُ الجَوزاءَ

4. And the flowers of the stars rose to surround it,
With their glitter, it perfected the adornment.

٤. وَتَناهَضَت زُهرُ النُجوم يَحُفُّهُ
لألاؤها فاِستَكمَلَ اللألاءَ

5. You see the planets around it like processions,
Their banners raised above it as flags.

٥. وَتَرى الكَواكِبَ كالمَواكِب حَولَهُ
رُفِعَت ثُرَيّاها عَلَيهِ لِواءَ

6. I described it on earth among processions,
And maidens who gathered with splendor and beauty.

٦. وَحَكَيتُهُ في الأَرضِ بَينَ مَواكِبَ
وَكَواعِبَ جَمَعَت سَنا وَسَناءَ

7. If those coats of mail spread out spears,
They would fill these cups for us with light.

٧. إِن نَشَرت تِلكَ الدُروع حَنادِساً
مَلأت لَنا هَذي الكُؤوسَ ضِياءَ

8. And if these sang here in blossoming meadow,
Those would never tire above the vines with melody.

٨. وَإِذا تَغَنَّت هَذِهِ في مَزهَرٍ
لَم تَألُ تِلكَ عَلى التَريك غِناءَ
