1. How the planets have circled, how much they wavered in you,
And how much they prevented me from the abode of my loved ones.

2. I swore by it, if the enemies had stood in its way
Like the lined up stars in the outspread sky.

3. I would have bared myself for the slashing sword, until
My purpose was fulfilled, and rare is one like the slashing sword.

4. So no heart of a friend is emptied of his friend's heart,
A place of reliance, from the heart of Muhammad.

5. But it is fate that ruins without folly,
And it deafens without killing, and casts without a hand.
