1. Praise be to Allah, the Restorer, the Manifester
Much praise, and He is the Most Worthy of Praise
١. الحَمدُ لِلَّهِ المُعيدِ المُبدي
حَمداً كَثيراً وُهوَ أُهلُ الحَمدِ
2. Then prayer upon the Prophet, first and last
Inwardly and outwardly
٢. ثُمَّ الصَلاةُ أَوَّلاً وَآخِرا
عَلى النَبِيِّ باطِناً وَظاهِرا
3. O questioner about the beginning of creation
It is the question of one seeking the Truth
٣. يا سائِلي عَن اِبتِداءِ الخَلقِ
مَسأَلَةَ القاصِدِ قَصدَ الحَقِّ
4. A group of trusted people informed me
Possessors of knowledge and good character
٤. أَخبَرَني قَومٌ مِن الثِقاتِ
أولو عُلومٍ وَأولو هَيئآتِ
5. They went ahead in seeking traditions
And knew the realities of reports
٥. تَقَدَّموا في طَلَبِ الآثارِ
وَعَرَفوا حَقائِقَ الأَخبارِ
6. And understood the Torah, Gospel
And firmly grasped the Revelation and its interpretation
٦. وَفَهِموا التَوراةَ وَالإِنجيلا
وَأَحكَموا التَنزيلَ وَالتَأويلا
7. That He who does what He wills
And to Him belong Might and Eternity
٧. أَنَّ الَّذي يَفعَلُ ما يَشاءُ
وَمَن لَهُ العِزَّةُ وَالبَقاءُ
8. Created Adam's being out of nothing
And made Eve proceed from him
٨. أَنشَأَ خَلقَ آدَمٍ إِنشاءَ
وَقَدَّ مِنهُ زَوجَهُ حَواءَ
9. Initiating this on Friday
Until, when He completed His work
٩. مُبتَدِئاً ذلِكَ يَومَ الجُمعَهْ
حَتّى إِذا أَكمَلَ مِنهُ صُنعَهْ
10. He settled them in Gardens
So what happened with them both happened
١٠. أَسكَنَهُ وَزَوجَهُ الجِنانا
فَكانَ مِن أَمرِهِما ما كانا
11. Iblis seduced them, so they were seduced by him
As Allah made clear in His Book
١١. غَرَّهُما إِبليسُ فَاِغتَرّا بِهِ
كَما أَبانَ اللَهُ في كِتابِهِ
12. The accursed one led them astray in what they did
So they were brought down from it to earth together
١٢. دَلّاهُما المَلعونُ فيما صَنَعا
فَأُهبِطا مِنها إِلى الأَرضَ مَعا
13. Thus our father Adam fell
Upon a mountain in India called Wasim
١٣. فَوَقَعَ الشَيخُ أَبونا آدَمْ
بِجَبَلٍ في الهِندِ يُدعى واسِمْ
14. Evil was that for which they were diverted
From Gardens and the proximity of the Beneficent
١٤. لَبَئسَما اِعتاضَ عَن الجِنانِ
وَعَن جِوارِ المَلِكِ المَنّانِ
15. And weakness is of human nature
Especially in the beginning of time
١٥. وَالضَعفُ مِن خَليقَةِ الإِنسانِ
لا سِيَّما في أَوَّلِ الزَمانِ
16. They had scarcely tasted success for one day
Before they exerted great effort in place of it
١٦. ما لَبِثا في الفَوزِ يَوماً واحِدا
حَتّى اِستَعاضا مِنهُ جُهداً جاهِدا
17. So they were miserable and bequeathed misery
To their children, and anxiety and sorrow
١٧. فَشَقيا وَوَرَّثا الشَقاءَ
أَبناهُما وَالهَمَّ وَالعَناءَ
18. But Adam did not cease seeking forgiveness for his sin
Until he received the words of his Lord
١٨. وَلَم يَزَل مُستَغفِراً مِن ذَنبِهِ
حَتّى تَلَقّى كَلِماتِ رَبِّهِ
19. So he felt safe from wrath and punishment
And Allah is Oft-Returning, Most Merciful
١٩. فَأمِنَ السَخطَةَ وَالعِقابا
وَاللَهُ تَوّابٌ عَلى مَن تابا
20. Then they desired and loved offspring
So Eve conceived and was pregnant
٢٠. ثُمَّ اِستَمَلّا وَأَحَبّا النَسلا
فَحَمَلَت حَوّاءُ مِنهُ حَملا
21. And bore a twin son and daughter
They were happy when she gave birth safely, as did they
٢١. وَوَضَعَت إِبناً وَبِنتاً تَوأَما
فَسُرَّ لَمّا سَلِمَت وَسَلِما
22. So they raised the son and named him Qabil
And from his affair they saw what they saw
٢٢. وَاِقتَنيا الإِبنَ فَسُمِّيَ قايِنا
وَعايَنا مِن أَمرِهِ ما عايَنا
23. Then after some time she again conceived
And gently gave birth to Habil
٢٣. ثُمَّ أَغَبَّت بَعدَهُ قَليلا
فَوَضَعَت مُتئِمَةً هابيلا
24. So Habil grew up and Qabil grew up
And there was no discord between them
٢٤. فَشَبَّ هابيلُ وَشَبَّ قايِنُ
وَلَم يَكُن بَينَهُما تَبايُنُ
25. Then they both offered a sacrifice
Bowing to Allah, humbling themselves
٢٥. فَقَرَّبا لِحاجَةٍ قُربانا
وَخَضَعا لِلَّهِ وَاِستَكانا
26. But the sacrifice was accepted from Habil
While Qabil did not succeed in acceptance
٢٦. فَقُبِلَ القُربانُ مِن هابيلِ
وَلَم يَفُز قايِنُ بِالقُبولِ
27. So he harbored resentment for the time destined for him
Against his brother, wronging him, so he killed him
٢٧. فَثارَ لِلحينِ الَّذي حُيِّنَ لَهْ
إِلى أَخيهِ ظالِماً فَقَتَلَهْ
28. Then he provoked his sister so they fled
And left parents most loving and dear
٢٨. ثُمَّ اِستَفَزَّ أُختَهُ فَهَرَبا
وَفارَقا أُمّاً أَلوفاً وَأَبا
29. So their home was far from his home
And they abandoned doing good from being near him
٢٩. فَبَعَدَت دارُهُما مِن دارِهِ
وَزَهَدا في الخَيرِ مِن جِوارِهِ
30. But Allah replaced him with Seth
And Seth did not cease beseeching Him
٣٠. فَأَخلَفَ اللَهُ عَلَيهِ شيثا
وَلَم يَزَل بِاللَهِ مُستَغيثا
31. And he kept advising his people
Though they increased in blaming him
٣١. وَلَم يَزَل يارِدُ يَألو قَومَهُ
نُصحاً وَكانوا يُكثِرونَ لَومَهُ
32. Until, when Idris died, he took over after him
And showed zeal for the matter. He was Enoch,
٣٢. حَتّى إِذا ماتَ اِستَقَلَّ بَعدَهُ
إِدريسُ بِالأَمرِ فَأَورى زِندَهُ
33. Upon whom our Lord bestowed prayers and peace.
The first messenger sent to mankind
٣٣. وَهُوَ حَنوخ بِالبَيانِ أَعجَما
صَلّى عَلَيهِ رَبُّنا وَسَلَّما
34. Commanding good and guiding
And the first of men to read and write
٣٤. أَوَّلُ مَبعوثٍ إِلى العِبادِ
وَآمِرٍ بِالخَيرِ وَالرَشادِ
35. And know accounting when they reckoned
But none of his people obeyed him
٣٥. وَأَوَّلُ الناسِ قَرا وَكَتَبا
وَعَلِمَ الحِسابَ لَمَّا حَسَبا
36. And mixed with Qabil and his descendants
So Allah took away from them the `Aad
٣٦. فَلَم يُطِعهُ أَحَدٌ مِن أَهلِهِ
وَاِختَلَطوا بِقايِنٍ وَنَسلِهِ
37. And immorality and corruption spread among them
And `Aad were from the children of Uwais bin Iram
٣٧. فَرَفَعَ اللَهُ إِلَيهِ عَبدَهُ
مِن بَعدِ ما اِختارَ المَقامَ عِندَهُ
38. And among the children of Uwais were Jadis and Tasm
So Allah sent to them Hood
٣٨. وَصارَ مَتوشَلَخٌ مُستَخلَفا
مِن بَعدِ إِدريسَ النَبِيِّ المُصطَفى
39. A sincere servant sent by his Lord
But he delineated the truth for them too clearly
٣٩. فَحَذَّرَ الناسَ عَذاباً نازِلا
فَلَم يَجِد في الأَرضِ مِنهُم قابِلا
40. So they stubbornly opposed him and persisted in unbelief and atheism
So he said: O Lord, deprive them of rain for years
٤٠. غَيرَ اِبنِهِ لَمكٍ فَأَوصى لَمكا
وَصِيَّةً كانَت تُقىً وَنُسكا
41. And He made it twelve years for them
And sent upon them a wind, stormy
٤١. فَوَعَظَ الناسَ فَخالَفوهُ
وَنَفروا عَنهُ وَفارَقوهُ
42. So it left none of the people of `Aad remaining
And a delegation of seventy from them
٤٢. فَأَرسَلَ اللَهُ إِلَيهِم نوحا
عَبداً لِمَن أَرسَلَهُ نَصوحا
43. Had traveled to Mecca to get water
So they beseeched and lifted their hands
٤٣. فَعاشَ أَلفاً غَيرَ خَمسينَ سَنَهْ
يَدعو إِلى اللَهِ وَتَمضي الأَزمِنَهْ
44. And Luqman bin `Aad was among them
So he asked for survival and prosperity
٤٤. يَدعوهُمُ سِرّاً وَيَدعو جَهرا
فَلَم يَزِدهُم ذاكَ إِلّا كُفرا
45. And lived until the eagles perished
And his supplication was answered
٤٥. وَاِنهَمَكوا في الكُفرِ وَالطُغيانِ
وَأَظهَروا عِبادَةَ الأَوثانِ
46. Since his companions were not agreeable
Then the Thamud succeeded `Aad
٤٦. حَتّى إِذا اِستَيأَسَ أَن يُطاعا
وَحَجَبوا مِن دونِهِ الأَسماعا
47. And dwelt in rock and valley
So Allah sent to them Salih
٤٧. دَعا عَلَيهِم دَعوَةَ البَوارِ
مِن بَعدِ ما أَبلَغَ في الإِنذارِ
48. A youth from among them, eminent
But he did not cease calling them
٤٨. وَاِتَّخَذَ الفُلكَ بِأَمرِ رَبِّهِ
حَتّى نَجا بِنَفسِهِ وَحِزبِهِ
49. Until the fewest of them responded to him
And they brought to him a smooth boulder
٤٩. وَأَقبَلَ الطوفانُ ماءً طاغِيا
فَلَم يَدَع في الأَرضِ خَلقاً باقِيا
50. And said: "Ask your Lord to split this rock
As a she-camel and a foal."
٥٠. غَيرَ الَّذينَ اِعتَصَموا في الفُلكِ
فَسَلِموا مِن غَمَراتِ الهُلكِ
51. So it cleaved until the foal of a she-camel was shown
With the mother camel following
٥١. وَكانَ هذا كُلُّهُ في آبِ
قَبلَ اِنتِصافِ الشَهرِ في الحِسابِ
52. But they hamstrung the she-camel out of misery
So the cry of destruction befell them
٥٢. فَعَزَموا عِندَ اِقتِرابِ المَعمَعَهْ
أَن يَركَبوا الفُلكَ وَأَن يَنجوا مَعَهْ
53. Thus that is an empty rock of Thamud
Can you see any of them remaining?
٥٣. وَكانَ مِن أَولادِ نوحٍ واحِدُ
مُخالِفٌ لِأَمرِهِ مُعانِدُ
54. Then your Lord chose Abraham
And did not cease being kind to His creation
٥٤. فَبادَ فيمَن بادَ مِن عِبادِهِ
وَسَلِمَ الباقونَ مِن أَولادِهِ
55. So he sincerely devoted himself to Oneness
Forsaking relative and stranger
٥٥. سامٌ وَحامٌ وَالصَغيرُ الثالِثُ
وَهُوَ في التَوراةِ يُدعى يافِثُ
56. And they begot females and males
Khaulah ennobled in-laws
٥٦. فَأَكثَرُ البيضانِ نَسلُ سامِ
وَأَكثَرُ السودانِ نَسلُ حامِ
57. And they settled Mecca for ages
Until, when they committed grave sins
٥٧. وَيافِثٌ في نَسلِهِ عَجائِبُ
يَأجوجُ وَالأَتراكُ وَالصَقالِبُ
58. And distorted the Law of Abraham
And confused the permitted and prohibited
٥٨. وَمِن بَني سامِ بنِ نوحٍ إِرَمُ
وَاَرْفَخْشَدٌ وَلاوِذٌ وَغَيلَمُ
59. The children of Kinanah ousted them from it
So they entered in humiliation and disgrace
٥٩. فَكَثُرَت مِن بَعدِ نوحٍ عادُ
وَشاعَ مِنها العَيثُ وَالفَسادُ
60. And the caring of the House, and people's affairs
Were undertaken by the most honorable of Bani Ilyas
٦٠. وَعادُ مِن أَولادِ عوصِ بنِ إِرَمْ
وَمِن بَني عوصٍ جَديسٌ وَطَسَمْ
61. So the Law of Ishmael
Remained clear to his people
٦١. فَأَرسَلَ اللَهُ إِلَيهِم هودا
فَجَرَّدَ الحَقَّ لَهُم تَجريدا
62. Until the matter ended with Quṣayy
Unifier of the best of Lu'ayy
٦٢. فَعانَدوهُ شَرَّ ما عِنادِ
وَاِنهَمَكوا في الكُفرِ وَالإِلحادِ
63. So people submitted leadership to him
Including the Sacred House, Stone, and Sanctuary
٦٣. فَقالَ يا رَبِّ أَعِزَّ القَطرا
عَنهُم فَعَدّاهُم سِنينَ عَشرا
64. And the bow returned to its shooting place
As the shooting met its target
٦٤. وَأَرسَلَ الريحَ عَلَيهِم عاصِفا
فَلَم تَدَع مِن آلِ عادٍ طائِفا
65. And glory was restored among his people
And pillars were set up for its glory
٦٥. وَكانَ وَفدٌ مِنهُم سَبعونا
ساروا إِلى مَكَّةَ يَستَقونا
66. And the Shaykh bequeathed nobility to his sons
All were wealthier, mightier, and sufficient
٦٦. فَاِبتَهَلوا وَرَفَعوا أَيديهِمُ
وَكانَ لُقمانُ بنُ عادٍ مِنهُمُ
67. Now listen to the tale of our uncle Isaac
For I will relate it consistently
٦٧. فَسَأَلَ البَقاءَ وَالتَعميرا
فَعاشَ حَتّى أَهلَكَ النُسورا
68. He came in the prime of youth
At the passing of a hundred generations
٦٨. وَوافَقَت دَعوَتُهُ إِجابَهْ
إِذ لَم يَكُن بِمُرتَضٍ أَصحابَهْ
69. So through him Allah aided the Friend
And supported the truthful Ishmael
٦٩. وَأَثمَرَت ثَمودُ بَعدَ عادِ
فَسَكَنَت حِجراً وَبَطنَ الوادي
70. And Sarah was amazed when given good news of him
So she laughed and was frightened
٧٠. فَأَرسَلَ اللَهُ إِلَيهِم صالِحا
فَتىً حَديثَ السِنِّ مِنهُم راجِحا
71. She said: "How can an old woman bear?"
She was told: "When the Almighty decrees"
٧١. فَلَم يَزَل يَدعوهُمُ حَتّى اِكتَهَلْ
وَلَم يُجِبهُ مِنهُمُ إِلّا الأَقَلْ
72. And it was said after him would come Jacob
An undeniable statement
٧٢. وَأَحضَروهُ صَخرَةً مَلساءَ
وَقالوا أَخلِص عِندَها الدُعاءَ
73. So the promise of Allah was fulfilled, exalted is His mention
And His command overcame all commands
٧٣. فَهَل لِمَن تَعبُدُهُ مِن طاقَهْ
أَن تَتَشَظّى وَلَداً عَن ناقَهْ
74. Then Isaac coveted and loved offspring
So Eve conceived and became pregnant
٧٤. فَاِنفَلَقَت حَتّى بَدا زَجيلُها
عَن ناقَةٍ يَتبَعُها فَصيلُها
75. And she bore Jacob and Esau together
And was happy when she and they were safe
٧٥. فَعَقَروا الناقَةَ لِلشَقاءِ
فَعاجَلَتهُم صَيحَةُ الفَناءِ
76. And the story of the Prophet Jacob
Is not hidden in books
٧٦. فَتِلكَ حِجرٌ مِن ثَمودٍ خالِيَهْ
فَهَل تَرى في الأَرضَ مِنهُم باقِيَهْ
77. Allah singled out with it a chapter
Well known for Joseph
٧٧. ثُمَّ اِصطَفى رَبُّكَ إِبراهيما
فَلَم يَزَل في خَلقِهِ رَحيما
78. And Jacob died in the land of Egypt
After lives completed, ten and more
٧٨. فَكانَ مِن إِخلاصِهِ التَوحيدا
أَن هَجَرَ القَريبَ وَالبَعيدا
79. And he only came to Egypt visiting
Joseph, then remained dwelling
٧٩. فَوَلَّدوا النِساءَ وَالرِجالا
خَؤولَةٌ شَرَّفَت الأَخوالا
80. Until when certain of death
He instructed that he be buried in Sham
٨٠. وَوَطَّنوا مَكَّةَ دَهراً داهِرا
حَتّى إِذا ما قارَفوا الكَبائِرا
81. So Joseph carried his coffin until he buried him
In Sham, as he had commanded him
٨١. وَبَدَّلوا شِرعَةَ إِبراهيمِ
وَشَبَّهوا التَحليلَ بِالتَحريمِ
82. Neither the passage of time from him
Nor the effort he endured in the wilderness prevented him
٨٢. أَجلَتهُمُ عَنها بَنو كِنانَهْ
فَدَخَلوا بِالذُلِّ وَالمَهانَهْ
83. And between them was fifty and one years
And a hundred complete, tried years
٨٣. وَوَلي البَيتَ وَأَمرَ الناسِ
الأَكرَمونَ مِن بَني إِلياسِ
84. And they remained wandering forty years
And never lived the like of them in years
٨٤. فَلَم تَزَل شِرعَةُ إِسماعيلِ
في أَهلِهِ واضِحَةَ السَبيلِ
85. And Aaron bin Imran the Prophet died
Before Moses, in a good dream
٨٥. حَتّى اِنتَهى الأَمرُ إِلى قُصَيِّ
مُجَمِّعٍ خَيرِ بَني لُؤَيِّ
86. It is said: Nothing delayed him from his brother
Except a matter accomplished in the wilderness
٨٦. فَسَلَّمَ الناسُ لَهُ المَقاما
وَالبيتَ وَالمَشعَرَ وَالحَراما
87. Then Joshua bin Nun prophesied
The loyal minister of Moses the Truthful
٨٧. وَصارَتِ القوسُ إِلى باريها
وَصادَفَت رَمِيَّةٌ راميها
88. So he crossed the deep Jordan River
And made the sea a pathway for him
٨٨. وَإيطَنَت في أَهلِها المَكارِمُ
وَرُفِعَت لِشَيدِها الدَعائِمُ
89. And it burned those who betrayed in Jericho
As Allah opened conquests through him
٨٩. وَوَرَّثَ الشَيخُ بَنيهِ الشَرَفا
وَكُلُّهُم أَغنى وَأَجدى وَكَفى
90. And he said to the sun: "Stop!" and it stopped
And turned it from its course, so it turned
٩٠. وَاِسمَع حَديثَ عَمِّنا إِسحاقا
فَإِنَّني أَسوقُهُ أَنساقا
91. And he humiliated kings until they were abased
And were insignificant in his eyes, so they were insignificant
٩١. جاءَ عَلى فَوتٍ مِن الشَبابِ
وَمِئَةٍ مَرَّت مِن الأَحقابِ
92. And he settled Sham for the Children of Israel
A promise from the Merciful in the Revelation
٩٢. فَأَيَّدَ اللَهُ بِهِ الخَليلا
وَعَضَدَ الصادِقَ إِسماعيلا
93. Then Caleb bin Yufannah prophesied after him
And said to the tribes: "I am going"
٩٣. وَعَجِبَت سارَةُ لمّا بُشِّرَت
بِهِ فَصَكَّت وَجهَها وَذُعِرَت
94. And he left the forbearing Ezekiel
The son of the old woman, as his replacement
٩٤. قالَت وَأَنّى تَلِدُ العَجوزُ
قيلَ إِذا قَدَّرَهُ العَزيزُ
95. Then after him the confederations multiplied
And they set up their idol Baal and renounced
٩٥. وَقيلَ مِن وَرائِهِ يَعقوبُ
مَقالَةٌ لَيسَ لَها تَكذيبُ
96. So Elias bin Yasin said to them
A messenger sent by their Lord:
٩٦. فَتَمَّ وَعدُ اللَهِ جَلَّ ذِكرُهُ
وَغَلَبَ الأَمرَ جَميعاً أَمرُهُ
97. "Worship Allah and discard Baal"
But they were arrogant and threatened to kill him
٩٧. فَكانَ مِن قِصَّةِ يَعقوبَ النَبِي
ما لَيسَ يَخفى ذِكرُهُ في الكُتُبِ
98. So the blessed one did not cease wandering
Until he was called by death, so he rested
٩٨. قَد أَفرَدَ اللَهُ بِذاكَ سورَهْ
مَعروفَةً بِيوسِفٍ مَشهورَهْ
99. And it is said in the Torah that a horse
Came to him in the morning or evening
٩٩. وَماتَ يَعقوبُ بِأَرضِ مِصرِ
مِن بَعدِ تِسعٍ كَمُلَت وَعَشرِ
100. Until when Elias mounted it
He disappeared from people
١٠٠. وَإِنِّما طالَعَ مِصرَ زائِرا
لِيوسِفٍ ثُمَّ ثَوى مُجاوِرا
101. And the son of affliction, Jesse, did not cease
Deterring them for a time but they did not refrain
١٠١. حَتّى إِذا أَيقَنَ بِالحِمامِ
أَوصى بِأَن يُقبَرَ بِالشآمِ
102. Then after Jesse they were robbed of the ark
And the name of his house died out from old age
١٠٢. فَحَمَلَ التابوتَ حَتّى قَبَرَهْ
يوسُفُ بِالشامِ عَلى ما أَمَرَهْ
103. And enemies appeared over them
And after guidance came blindness
١٠٣. ثُمَّ أَتى مِصرَ فَعاشَ حِقَبا
حَتّى قَضى مِن الحَياةِ أَرَبا
104. So they asked their prophet Samuel
To take on the great kingship
١٠٤. وَكانَ مِن أُسرَتِهِ سَبعونا
أَتوهُ مَع يَعقوبَ زائِرينا
105. And asked him to appoint a governor over them
To fight the enemies
١٠٥. وَكانَ فِرعَونُ يَليهِم قَسرا
فَسامَهُم سوءَ العَذابِ دَهرا
106. And they pledged to him to obey his command
And strengthen and honor him
١٠٦. فَبَعَثَ اللَهُ إِلَيهِم موسى
مِن بَعدِ ما قَدَّسَهُ تَقديسا
107. So Allah sent them Saul
But they followed and attacked Goliath
١٠٧. فَخَلَّصَ القَومَ مِن العَذابِ
وَهُم عَلى ما قيلَ في الحِسابِ
108. And David was also there after him
Among his people, then came to him alone
١٠٨. سِوى الذَراري وَالرِجالِ العُجفِ
مِن الرِجالِ سِتَّ مِيةِ أَلفِ
109. And a silent rock spoke to him
Calling him so he would hear the call
١٠٩. وَنَقَلَ التابوتَ ذو العَهدِ الوَفي
موسى وَفي التابوتِ جِسمُ يوسُفِ
110. "Take me, for I am the rock of the Friend
With me Goliath will be killed before long"
١١٠. لَم يَثنِهِ عَن ذاكَ بُعدُ العَهدِ
وَلا الَّذي مَرَّ بِهِ مِن جُهدِ
111. For the rock of Isaac the Prophet had also asked him before
To carry it
١١١. وَبَينَهُم إِحدى وَخَمسونَ سَنَه
وَمِئَةٍ كامِلَةٍ مُمتَحَنَه
112. So he witnessed war clutching his missiles
As the rocks collided in their pouches
١١٢. وَمَكَثوا في التيهِ أَربَعينا
وَلَم يَعيشوا مِثلَها سِنينا
113. Each craving to shed his blood
Avenging Allah against His enemies
١١٣. وَماتَ هارونُ بنُ عِمرانَ النَبِي
مِن قَبلِ موسى في مَنامٍ طَيِّبِ
114. So with one of them David reached
Goliath, as it was destined for him
١١٤. وَقيلَ ما أُخِّرَ عَن أَخيهِ
إِلّا لِأَمرٍ قَد قُضِي في التيهِ
115. So Allah destroyed his enemy for him
And he won the kingdom and prophecy
١١٥. ثُمَّ تَنَبّا يوشَعُ بنُ نونِ
وَصِيُّ موسى الصادِقِ الأَمينِ
116. And the Temple of Jerusalem had been founded
Blessed in its foundation and founder
١١٦. فَخاضَ بَحرَ أُردُنَ العَميقا
وَجَعَلَ البَحرَ لَهُ طَريقا
117. But Solomon completed it after him
Until the structure was stable
١١٧. وَحَرَقَت مَن خانَ في أَريحا
وَفَتَحَ اللهُ بهِ الفُتوحا
118. And David had instructed him to do so
When he swooned in his dovecote
١١٨. وَقالَ لِلشَمسِ قِفي فَوَقَفَت
وَرَدَّها مِن قَصدِها فَاِنصَرَفَت
119. And Solomon assumed kingship
For around forty years until he perished
١١٩. وَذَلَّلَ المُلوكَ حَتّى ذَلَّتِ
وَقُلِّلَت في عَينِهِ فَقَلَّتِ
120. And he had twenty sons after him
Assuming kingship after him
١٢٠. وَأَسكَنَ الشامَ بَني اِسرائيلِ
وَعداً مِن الرَحمنِ في التَنزيلِ
121. Then Bukht Naṣṣar removed their kingship from them
So he assumed kingship after them and they were humbled
١٢١. ثُمَّ تَنَبّا وَقَفاهُ كَالِبُ
وَقالَ لِلأَسباطِ إِنّي ذاهِبُ
122. And the wicked one destroyed the Noble House
And he was obsessed with killing souls
١٢٢. وَخَلَّفَ الحَليمَ حَزقائيلا
ابنَ العَجوزِ بَعدَهُ بَديلا
123. And he died of smallpox in Tadmor
Leaving no sons after him
١٢٣. وَكَثُرَت مِن بَعدِهِ الأَحزابُ
وَنَصَبوا بَعلَهُمُ وَعابوا
124. Then rule went to the sons of the killer
For nineteen years with no protector
١٢٤. فَقالَ إِلياسُ بنُ ياسينَ لَهُم
وَهُوَ نَبِيٌّ مُرسَلٌ مِن رَبِّهِم
125. Until the last of his sons, Daraa
Killed the High Priest then won over his army
١٢٥. أَنِ اِعبُدوا اللَهَ وَأَلقوا بَعلا
فَاِستَكبَروا وَأَوعَدوهُ القَتلا
126. And the House of the Preserved One was demolished
And the Incident of the Moat occurred in Medina
١٢٦. فَلَم يَزَل مُستَخفِياً سَيّاحا
حَتّى دُعِي بِالمَوتِ فَاِستَراحا
127. Then `Abd al-Malik bin Marwan assumed power
Rousing for war, not weak
١٢٧. وَقيلَ في التَوراةِ إِنَّ فَرَسا
أَتاهُ في صَباحِهِ أَو في مسا
128. Until the horizons submitted to him
And Iraq was emptied of Mus`ab
١٢٨. حَتّى إِذا رَكِبَهُ إِلياسُ
غابَ فَلَم يَظهَر عَلَيهِ الناسُ
129. And his brother's country, the inviolable
Where people feared his tyranny
١٢٩. وَلَم يَزَل اِبنُ الخطوبِ اليَسَعُ
يَردَعُهُم دَهراً فَلَم يَرتَدِعوا
130. Then he died after living thirteen years
And four months in leadership
١٣٠. وَسُلِبوا التابوتَ مِن بَعدِ اليَسِعْ
وَماتَ اليادُ اِسمُهُم مِن الحَذعْ
131. And people were ruled by his son Al-Walid
With wealth and soldiers at his disposal
١٣١. وَظَهَرَت عَلَيهِمُ الأَعداءُ
وَعَمَّهُم بَعدَ الهُدى العَماءُ
132. For seventeen complete years after that
Then Suleiman bin `Abd al-Malik succeeded him
١٣٢. فسأَلوا نبيَّهم سُمويلا
أنَّ يستقيل الملكَ الجليلا
133. He was chosen as successor but did not tarry
Living two years and a third of a year
١٣٣. وَسَأَلوهُ أَن يُوَلّي والِيا
عَلَيهِمُ يُقاتِلُ الأَعادِيا
134. Then he was overtaken by death suddenly
And `Umar took over command
١٣٤. وَعاهَدوهُ أَن يُطيعوا أَمرَهُ
وَأَن يُعِزّوهُ وَيُعلوا قَدرَهُ
135. With a praiseworthy conduct among lives
He lived two years and half a year
١٣٥. فَبَعَثَ اللَهُ لَهُم طالوتا
فَاِتَّبَعوهُ وَغَزوا جالوتا
136. Except for days, near the baths he died
And Yazid succeeded him as fate decreed
١٣٦. وَكانَ داودُ أَقامَ بَعدَهُ
في أَهلِهِ ثُمَّ أَتاهُ وَحدَهُ
137. He is Allah's doer of what He wills
And he was among the third generation of descendants
١٣٧. وَكَلَّمَتهُ صَخرَةٌ صَمّاءُ
نادَتهُ حَيثُ يَسمَعُ النِداءُ
138. Of `Abd al-Malik during their shared reign
And he lived twenty-two years complete
١٣٨. خُذني فَإِنّي حَجَرُ الخَليلِ
يُقتَلُ بي جالوتُ عَن قَليلِ
139. Then two years and a year after that
And half a month, then death met him
١٣٩. وَكانَ أَيضاً سَأَلَتهُ قَبلَها
صَخرَةُ إِسحاقَ النَبِيِّ حَملَها
140. In Tus on Saturday, shaking the mountain
And they pledged allegiance to Muhammad Amin
١٤٠. فَشاهَدَ الحَربَ عَلى أَناتِهِ
وَاِصطَكَّتِ الأَحجارُ في مُخلاتِهِ
141. Then together renounced the pledge, all of them
Except a few, and fewest was Ahmed
١٤١. وَكُلُّها يَطمَعُ في إِسدائِهِ
مُنتَقِمٌ لِلَّهِ مِن أَعدائِهِ
142. And death is the promised end of all people
Then they broke trust and killed him
١٤٢. فَنالَ داودُ بِبَعضِهِنَّهْ
جالوتَ إِذ كانَت لَهُ مَظَنَّهْ
143. Not as his father had pledged to them
١٤٣. فَأَهلَكَ اللَهُ لَهُ عَدُوُّهْ
وَفازَ بِالمُلكِ وَبِالنُبُوَّهْ
144. He did not live except four years and months
Until they split his beheaded head
١٤٤. وَكانَ طالوتُ لَهُ حَسودا
فَأَظفَرَ اللَهُ بِهِ داودا
145. And they pledged allegiance to Al-Ma'mun `Abdullah
So they pledged to a vigilant, not heedless
١٤٥. وَكانَ قَد أَسَّسَ بَيتَ المَقدِسِ
بورِكَ في الأَساسِ وَالمُؤَسِّسِ
146. And he understood the caliphate of Al-Mansur
In number of years and months
١٤٦. وَإِنَّما تَمَمَّهُ سُلَيمانْ
مِن بَعدِهِ حّتى اِستَقَلَّ البُنيانْ
147. Then he came to Rome and died a martyr
He was in the Baghdad fortress far away
١٤٧. وَكانَ قَد وَصّاهُ بِاِستِمامِهِ
داودُ إِذ أَشفى عَلى حِمامَهِ
148. And leadership was vested in Abu Ishaq
So he pounced on Iraq like a falcon
١٤٨. وَقامَ بِالمُلكِ سُلَيمانُ المُلِكْ
نَحوَ اَربَعينَ سَنَةً حَتّى هَلَكْ
149. Relying on Allah, not neglectful
And the matter was aided by his virtuous opinion
١٤٩. وَكانَ مِن أَولادِهِ عِشرونا
مِن بَعدِهِ بِالمُلكِ قائِمونا
150. And he stood over them eight pilgrimages
And similar months remaining
١٥٠. ثُمَّ أَزالَ المُلكَ بُختَنَصَّرُ
عَنهُم فَقامَ بَعدَهُم وَقَصَّروا
151. And around twenty days
Brought near by the baths, then he faded away
١٥١. وَخَرَّبَ الشَقِيُّ بَيتَ المَقدِسِ
وَكانَ مَشغوفاً بِقَتلِ الأَنفُسِ
152. And he died in Rabi` al-Awwal
Before fifty, not completing it
١٥٢. وَماتَ بِالرَملَةِ عَن بَنينا
مِن بَعدِهِ بِالمُلكِ قائِمينا
153. So after him the people pledged to Al-Wathiq
As that was destined early on
١٥٣. فَقَتَلَ الأَخيرَ مِن بَنيهِ
دارا وَصارَ مُلكُهُم إِلَيهِ
154. And he remained in power and protection
Five years and nine months
١٥٤. وَكانَ في زَمانِهِ أَيّوبُ
الصابِرُ المُحتَسِبُ المُنيبُ
155. And five days were added to them, numbered
Then his footprint vanished
١٥٥. وَبَعدَ أَيّوبَ اِبنُ مَتّى يونُسُ
وَفيهِ لِلَّهِ كِتابٌ يُدرَسُ
156. And after him the people pledged to Ja`far
Caliph of Allah, most blossoming of flower
١٥٦. وَيونِسٌ وَلّى فَقامَ شَعيا
فَأَنزَلَ اللَهُ عَلَيهِ الوَحيا
157. After two hundred thirty years
And two years except days
١٥٧. وَقيلَ إِنَّ الخِضرَ مِن إِخوانِهِ
وَإِنَّهُ قَد كانَ في زَمانِهِ
158. Six days remained of Dhu al-Hijjah
Of the Hijri in the precise Arabic
١٥٨. وَزَكَرِيّاءُ وَيَحيى الطاهِرُ
قَد أَنذَروا لَو أَغَنتَ المَناذِرُ
159. So he clarified the path and trial
And stood as their rightly-guided Caliph
١٥٩. كِلاهُما أُكرِمَ بِالشَهادَهْ
فَسَعِدا وَأَيَّما سَعادَهْ
160. A blessed and noble Caliphate
He settled the outskirts through it
١٦٠. وَكانَ يَحيى أَدرَكَ اِبنَ مَريَمِ
طِفلاً صَغيراً في الزَمانِ الأَقدمِ
161. You see in his reign no opposition
He stood for ten then five after them
١٦١. وَبَعدَ ذاكَ مَلَكَ الإِسكِندَرُ
وَالإِسمُ ذو القَرنينِ فيما يَذكُرُ
162. Of years, displaying their glory
Then he was killed by the Faraghina
١٦٢. وَكانَ عيسى بَعدَ ذي القَرنينِ
بِنَحوِ خَمسينَ وَمائَتَينِ
163. Aided by a perfidious group
Four days before Shawwal
١٦٣. يَنقُصُ حَولاً في حِسابِ الرومِ
بِذِكرِهِ في الخَبَرِ المَعلومِ
164. So kingship was shaken, oh what a pity!
And they pledged allegiance after him to Al-Muntasir
١٦٤. وَكانَ في أَيّامِهِ الأَشغانون
وَهُم مُلوكٌ لِلبِلادِ غَرين
165. He became the winner, although among them a loser
Living as Sultan six months
١٦٥. فَجَذَّهُم بِالسَيفِ أَردَشيرُ
ثُمَّ اِبنُهُ مِن بَعدِهِ سابورُ
166. Which expelled them from his kingship and army
Then his dovecote suddenly took him
١٦٦. وَاِنقَطَعَ الوَحيُ وَصارَ مُلكا
وَأَعلَنوا بَعدَ المَسيحِ الشِركا
167. Glory to the Swift in Retribution
And Allah chose for them an Imam
١٦٧. فَخَصَّ بِالطَولِ بَني اِسماعيلِ
أَضافَهُم بِالشَرَفِ الجَليلِ
168. Supported by Allah to empower Islam
And after Al-Rida they pledged to Ahmed Al-Musta`in Billah
١٦٨. فَلَزِمَت مَكَّةَ وَالبَوادِيا
وَحَلَّت الأَريافَ وَالحَواشِيا
169. That was in the twentieth of those it vested
From Abbasids and their in-laws
١٦٩. وَظَهَرَت بِاليَمنِ التَبابِعَهْ
شَمرُ بنُ عَبسِ وَمُلوكٌ خالِعَهْ
170. So we are in a blessed Caliphate
Free of harm and partnership
١٧٠. وَاِستَولَتِ الرومُ عَلى الشاماتِ
فَآثَرَت رَفاهَةَ الحَياةِ
171. So praise be to Allah for His blessings
All this matter is from His rulings
١٧١. وَأجمَعَت لِلفُرسِ أَرضَ بابِلِ
وَقَنَعَت بِآجِلٍ مِن عاجِلِ
172. Then peace, first and last
Upon the Prophet, inward and outward
١٧٢. فَهذِهِ جُملَةُ أَخبارِ الأُمَمْ
مَنقولَةٌ مِن عَرَبٍ وَمِن عَجَمْ
١٧٣. وَكُلُّ قَومٍ لَهُمُ تكثيرُ
وَقَلَّما تُحَصَّلُ الأُمورُ
١٧٤. وَعُمِّيَتْ في الفَترَةِ الأَخبارُ
إِلّا الَّتي سارَت بِها الأَشعارُ
١٧٥. وَالفُرسُ وَالرومُ لَهُم أَيّامُ
يَمنَعُ مِن تَفخيمِها الإِسلامُ
١٧٦. وَإِنَّما يَقنَعُ أَهلُ العَقلِ
بِكُتبِ اللَهِ وَقَولِ الرُسلِ
١٧٧. ثُمَّ أَزالَ الظُلمَةَ الضِياءُ
وَعاوَدَت جِدَّتَها الأَشياءُ
١٧٨. وَدانَتِ الشُعوبُ وَالأَحياءُ
وَجاءَ ما لَيسَ بَهِ خَفاءُ
١٧٩. أُتاهُمُ المُنتَجَبُ الأَواهُ
مُحَمَّدٌ صَلّى عَلَيهِ اللَهَ
١٨٠. أَكرَمُ خَلقِ اللَهِ طُرّاً نَفسا
وَمَولِداً وَمَحتَداً وَجِنسا
١٨١. يَغشى لَهُ بِالشَرفِ الأَشرافُ
لا مِريَةٌ فيهِ وَلا خِلافُ
١٨٢. أَقامَ في مَكَّتِهِ سِنينا
حَتّى إِذا اِستَكمَلَ أَربَعينا
١٨٣. أَرسَلَهُ اللَهُ إِلى العِبادِ
أَشرِف بِهِ مِن مُنذِرٍ وَهادِ
١٨٤. فَظَلَّ يَدعوهُم ثَلاثَ عَشرَه
بِمَكَةٍ قَبلَ حُضورِ الهِجرَه
١٨٥. ثُمَّ أَتى مَحَلَّةَ الأَنصارِ
في عُصبَةٍ مِن قَومِهِ خِيارِ
١٨٦. أَوَّلُهُم صاحِبُهُ في الغارِ
أَفضَلُ تِلكَ العِصبَةِ الأَبرارِ
١٨٧. صِدّيقُها الصادِقُ في مَقالِهِ
المُحسِنُ المُجمِلُ في أَفعالِهِ
١٨٨. وَذاكَ في شَهرِ رَبيعِ الأَوَّلِ
لِلَيلَتَينِ بَعدَ عَشرٍ كُمَّلِ
١٨٩. فَسُرَّتِ الأَنصارُ بِالمُهاجِرَه
وَكُلُّهُم يُؤثِرُ دارَ الآخِرَه
١٩٠. وَاِحتَشَدَت لِحَربِهِ القَبائِلُ
فَثَبَتَ الحَقُّ وَزالَ الباطِلُ
١٩١. وَوَهَبَ اللَهُ لَهُ الشَهادَهْ
جاءَ فَدَلَّتهُ عَلى السَعادَهْ
١٩٢. وَذاكَ مِن بَعدِ سِنينَ عَشرِ
وَشَطرِ حَولٍ يا لَهُ مِن شَطرِ
١٩٣. وَقامَ عُثمانُ بنُ عَفّانَ الرِضا
بِالأَمرِ ثِنتَي عَشرَةٍ ثُمَّ مَضى
١٩٤. مُستَشهداً عَلى طَريقِ الحَقِّ
لَم يَثنِهِ عَنهُ بِبابِ الطُرقِ
١٩٥. وَفُوِّضَ الأَمرُ إِلى عَلِيِّ
الهاشِمِيِّ الفاضِلِ الزَكِيِّ
١٩٦. فَقامَ بِالأَمرِ سِنينَ أَربَعا
وَتِسعَةً مِن الشُهورِ شَرعا
١٩٧. ثُمَّ مَضى مُستَشهداً مَحمودا
عاشَ حَميداً وَمَضى مَفقودا
١٩٨. وَكانَ هذا عامَ أَربَعينا
مِنها اِنقَضَت مِن عِدَّةِ السِنينا
١٩٩. وَاِنتَقَلَ الأَمرُ عَن المَدينَهْ
وَكانَ حَقاً ما رَوى سَفينَه
٢٠٠. عَن النَبِيِّ في وُلاةِ الأُمَّه
مِنَ المُلوكِ وَمِنَ الأَئِمَّه
٢٠١. ثُمَّ تولّى أمرهم معاويه
فعاش عشراً بعدَ عشر خاليَه
٢٠٢. حَتّى إِذا أَوفاهُمُ عِشرينا
ماتَ مِن التاريخِ في سِتّينا
٢٠٣. وَمَلَكَ الأَمرَ اِبنُهُ يَزيدُ
لا حازِمُ الرَأيِ وَلا رَشيدُ
٢٠٤. وَقُتِلَ الحُسَينُ في زَمانِهِ
أَعوذُ بِالرَحمنُ مِن خُذلانِهِ
٢٠٥. وَإِنَّ ما عاشَ ثَلاثُ حُجَجِ
وَأَشهُرٌ مِن بَعدِ حَملِ المَخرَجِ
٢٠٦. ثُمَّ ابنه مُعَيَّةُ المُضعَّفُ
كان له دينٌ وعقلٌ يُعرفُ
٢٠٧. فدام شهراً ثمَّ نصفَ شهرِ
وجاءه الموتُ عزيزَ الأمرِ
٢٠٨. وتركَ الناسَ بغير عهدِ
توقّياً منهُ وفضلَ زهدِ
٢٠٩. وَفُوِّضَ الأَمرُ إِلى مَروانِ
بَعدَ يَزيدَ وَهُوَ شَيخٌ فانِ
٢١٠. فَقَتَلَ الضَحّاكَ في ذي القِعدَه
بِدارِصٍ ثُمَّ اِستَمالَ جُندَه
٢١١. وَلَم يَعِش إِلّا شُهوراً عَشرَه
وَلَيسَ شَيءٌ يَتَعَدّى قَدرَه
٢١٢. وَلَم يَزَل اِبنُ الزُبيرِ بَعدَهُ
تِسعَ سِنينَ لَيسَ يَألو جُهدَهُ
٢١٣. مُعتَصِماً بِالكَعبَةِ الحَرامِ
مُمتَنِعاً مِن إِمرَةِ الشآمِ
٢١٤. حَتّى تَوَلّى قَتلَهُ الحَجّاجُ
مِن بَعدِ ما ضاقَت بِهِ الفِجاجُ
٢١٥. وَكانَ هَدمُ الكَعبَةِ المَصونَه
وَوُقعَةُ الحَرَّةِ بِالمَدينَه
٢١٦. وَقامَ عَبدُ المُلكِ بنُ مَروان
مُستَنهِضاً لِلحَربِ غَيرَ وَسنان
٢١٧. حَتّى إِذا دانَت لَهُ الآفاقُ
وَأَقفَرَت مِن مُصعَبَ العِراقُ
٢١٨. وَمِن أَخيهِ البَلَدُ الحَرامُ
وَخافَ مِن سَطوَتِهِ الأَنامُ
٢١٩. ماتَ وَقَد عاشَ ثَلاثَ عَشرَه
وَأَشهُراً أَربَعَةً بِالإِمرَه
٢٢٠. وَمَلَكَ الناسَ اِبنُهُ الوَليدُ
وَعِندَهُ الأَموالُ وَالجُنودُ
٢٢١. سَبعَ سِنينَ بَعدَها ثَمانِيَه
كامِلَة مِن الشُهورِ وافِيَه
٢٢٢. ثُمَّ سُلَيمانُ بنُ عَبدِ المُلكِ
اِختيرَ لِلعَهدِ وَلَمّا يَترُكِ
٢٢٣. فَعاشَ حَولَينَ وَثُلثَ حولِ
ثُمَّ أَتى دابِقِ مُرخى الذَيلِ
٢٢٤. فَماتَ وَاِستَولى عَلى الأَمرِ عُمَر
بِسيرَةٍ مَحمودَةٍ بَينَ السِيَر
٢٢٥. فَعاشَ عامَينِ وَنِصفَ عامِ
بِديرِ سَمعانَ سِوى الأَيّامِ
٢٢٦. ثُمَّ تَوَلّى أَمرَهُم يَزيدُ
وَاللَهُ فَعالٌ لِما يُريدُ
٢٢٧. وَهُوَ مِن أَولادِ عَبدِ المَلِكِ
ثالِثُهُم في عَهدِهِ المُشتَرِكِ
٢٢٨. فَعاشَ حَولَينِ إِلى حَولَينِ
تَزيدُ أَشهُراً قَريرَ العَينِ
٢٢٩. ثُمَّ تَوَلّى بَعدَهُ هِشامُ
أَخوهُ فَاِعتَدَّت لَهُ الأَقوامُ
٢٣٠. فَلَم يَزَل عِشرينَ عاماً والِيا
إِلّا شُهوراً خَمسَةً بِواقِيا
٢٣١. ثُمَّ الوَليدُ بنُ يَزيدَ القاتِلُ
تَعاوَرَتهُ الأُسُدُ البَواسِلُ
٢٣٢. مِن بَعدِ شَهرَينِ وَبَعدَ عامِ
وَبَعدَ عِشرينَ مِن الأَيّامِ
٢٣٣. وَنَصَبَ الحَربَ لَهُ اِبنُ عَمِّهِ
مُستَنكِراً سيرَتَه بِزَعمِهِ
٢٣٤. فَقُتِلَ الوَليدُ بِالبَخراءِ
مِن بَعدِ أَن أَثَخنَ بِالأَعداءِ
٢٣٥. ثُمَّ يَزيدُ بنُ الوَليدِ الناقِصُ
عافَصَه الحينُ الَّذي يُعافِصُ
٢٣٦. فَلَم يَعِش إِلّا شُهوراً سِتَّه
حَتّى أَزالَتهُ المَنايا بَغتَه
٢٣٧. وَبايَعوا مَروانَ أَجمَعينا
فَكانَ حِصناً لَهُمُ حَصينا
٢٣٨. وَلَم يَزَل خَمسَ سِنينَ وافِيَه
يَملُكُهُم وَأَشهُراً ثَمانِيَه
٢٣٩. حَتّى أَتى اللَهُ وَلِيُّ النِعمَه
بِالحَقِّ مِنهُ رَأفَةً وَرَحمَه
٢٤٠. وَاِختارَ لِلناسِ أَبا العَباسِ
مِن أَنجَدِ الناسِ خَيارِ الناسِ
٢٤١. آلِ النَبِيِّ مِن بَني العَبّاسِ
أَئِمَّةٍ أَفاضِلٍ أَكياسِ
٢٤٢. فَعادَ نَصلُ المُلكِ في قُرابِهِ
وَرَجَعَ الحَقُّ إِلى أَصحابِهِ
٢٤٣. ثُمَّ رَقى المَنبَرَ يَومَ الجُمعَه
في مَسجِدِ الكوفَةِ يُذري دَمعَه
٢٤٤. فَقامَ في الدينِ قِيامَ مِثلِهِ
بِرَأيِهِ المَيمونِ حَسبَ فِعلِهِ
٢٤٥. وَماتَ بَعدَ أَربَعٍ كَوامِلِ
وَسَبعَةٍ مِن أَشهُرٍ فَواضِلِ
٢٤٦. وَقامَ بِالخِلافَةِ المَنصورُ
فَاِستَوسَقَت بِعَزمِهِ الأُمورُ
٢٤٧. فَعاشَ ثِنتَينِ وَعِشرينَ سَنَه
يَحمي حِمى المُلكِ وَيُفني الخَوَنَه
٢٤٨. ثُمَّ تُوُفّي مُحرِماً بِمَكَّه
فَوَرِثَ المَهدِيُّ عَنهُ مُلكَه
٢٤٩. فَعاشَ عَشرَ حِجَجٍ وَشَهرا
وَنِصفَ شَهرٍ ثُمَّ زارَ القَبرا
٢٥٠. وَاِستَخلَفَ الهادِيَ موسى بَعدَهُ
وَكانَ قَد وَلّاهُ قَبلُ عَهدَهُ
٢٥١. وَعاشَ موسى سَنَةً وَشَهرَين
تَنقُصُ يَوماً واحِداً أَو اِثنَين
٢٥٢. وَقامَ بِالخِلافَةِ الرَشيدُ
المُلكُ المُمَنَّعُ السَعيدُ
٢٥٣. فَعاشَ عِشرينَ وَوَفّى عَدَّها
وَعاشَ عامَينِ وَعاماً بَعدَها
٢٥٤. وَنِصفَ شَهرٍ ثُمَّ وافاهُ الأَجَل
بِطوسَ يَومَ السَبتِ فَاِنهَدَّ الجَبَل
٢٥٥. وَبايَعوا مُحَمَّدَ الأَمينا
وَنَكَثوا البَيعَةَ أَجمَعينا
٢٥٦. إِلّا قَليلاً وَالقَليلُ أَحمَدُ
وَالمَوتُ لِلناسِ جَميعاً مَوعِدُ
٢٥٧. فَأَمَّنوهُ ثُمَّ قَتَلوهُ
ما هكَذا عاهَدَهُم أَبوهُ
٢٥٨. ما عاشَ إِلّا أَربَعاً وَأَشهُرا
حَتّى تَهادوا رَأسَهُ مُعَفَّرا
٢٥٩. وَبايَعوا المَأمونَ عَبدَ اللَهِ
فَبايَعوا يَقظانَ غَيرَ ساهِ
٢٦٠. وَفّاهُمُ خِلافَةَ المَنصورِ
في عَدَدِ السِنينَ وَالشُهورِ
٢٦١. ثُمَّ أَتى الرومَ فَماتَ غازِيا
كانَ البَذَندونَ المَحَلَّ القاصِيا
٢٦٢. وَقُلِّدَ الأَمرَ أَبو إِسحاقِ
فَاِنقَضَّ كَالصَقرِ عَلى العِراقِ
٢٦٣. مُعتَصِماً بِاللَهِ غَيرَ غافِلِ
فَأَيَّدَ الأَمرَ بِرَأيٍ فاضِلِ
٢٦٤. وَقامَ فيهِم حُجَجاً ثَمانِيا
وَمِثلَها مِنَ الشُهورِ باقِيا
٢٦٥. وَنَحوَ عِشرينَ مِنَ الأَيّامِ
وَخَمسٍ اَدْنَتهُ مِنَ الحِمامِ
٢٦٦. وَماتَ في شَهرِ رَبيعِ الأَوَّلِ
وَعُمرُهُ خَمسونَ لَم يَستَكمِلِ
٢٦٧. فَبايَعوا مِن بَعدِهِ لِلواثِقِ
وَكانَ ذاكَ بِالقَضاءِ السابِقِ
٢٦٨. وَلَم يَزَل في بَسطَةٍ وَمَنعَه
خَمسَ سِنينَ وَشُهوراً تِسعَه
٢٦٩. وَزادَ أَيّاماً عَلَيها خَمسَه
مَعدودَةً ثُمَّ تَوارى رَمسَه
٢٧٠. وَبايَعَ الناسُ الإِمامَ جَعفَرا
خَليفَةَ اللَهِ الأَغَرَّ الأَزهَرا
٢٧١. بَعدَ ثَلاثينَ وَميتَي عامِ
وَبَعدَ حَولَينِ سِوى أَيّامِ
٢٧٢. خَلَت مِن الهِجرَةِ في الحِسابِ
في العَرَبي المُحكَمِ الصَوابِ
٢٧٣. لِسِتَّةٍ بَقينَ مِن ذي الحِجَّةِ
فَأَوضَحَ السَبيلَ وَالمَحِجَّه
٢٧٤. وَقامَ في الناسِ لَهُم خَليفَه
خِلافَةً مُنيفَةً شَريفَه
٢٧٥. قَد سَكَّنَ اللَهُ بِهِ الأَطرافا
فَما تَرى في مُلكِهِ خِلافا
٢٧٦. أَقامَ عَشراً ثُمَّ خَمساً بَعدَها
مِنَ السِنينَ فَأَبانَ مَجدَها
٢٧٧. ثُمَّ تَوَلّى قَتلَهُ الفَراغِنَه
وَساعَدَتهُم عِصبَةٌ فَراعِنَه
٢٧٨. لِأَربَعٍ خَلَونَ مِن شَوّالِ
فَأَصبَحَ المُلكُ أَخا اِختِلال
٢٧٩. وَبايَعوا مِن بَعدِهِ لِلمُنتَصِر
فَأَصبَحَ الرابِحُ مِنهُم قَد خَسِر
٢٨٠. فَعاشَ في السُلطانُ سِتَّةَ اَشهُرِ
أَخرَجَهُم مِن مُلكِهِ وَالعَسكَرِ
٢٨١. ثُمَّ أَتاهُ بَغتَةً حَمامُهُ
سُبحانَ مَن يُعاجِلُ اِنتِقامُهُ
٢٨٢. فَاِنتَخَبَ اللَهُ لَهُم إِماما
يُؤَيِّدُ اللَهُ بِهِ الإِسلاما
٢٨٣. وَبايَعوا بَعدَ الرِضا لِأَحمَدِ
المُستَعينِ بِالإِلهِ الأَحَدِ
٢٨٤. وَكانَ في العِشرينَ مِن وُلاتِها
مِن آلِ عَبّاسٍ وَمِن حُماتِها
٢٨٥. فَنَحنُ في خِلافَةٍ مُبارَكَه
خَلَت عَن الإِضرارِ وَالمُشارَكَه
٢٨٦. فَالحَمدُ لِلَّهِ عَلى إِنعامِهِ
جَميعُ هذا الأَمرِ مِن أَحكامِه
٢٨٧. ثُمَّ السَلامُ أَوَّلاً وَآخِرا
عَلى النَبِيُّ باطِناً وَظاهِرا
