1. You have abandoned the manners that you once upheld
Have you now become arrogant in your books?

2. Or do you think that to share equally is nothing but
A flaw upon you and your lineage?

3. Or was it out of anger that you acted this way
What has brought you now out of your rage?

4. If an esteemed friend shuns correspondence
His heart still cherishes you and holds you dear

5. How could we reconcile when you have
Associated with the Prophet's family and kin?

6. Tell your loyalty that you so highly regard
I have grown weary of pursuing it

7. You have exhausted your hands corresponding with me
You have suffered enough from your toil
