1. Arise, this light
Salute the virtuous beauties

١. قُم حَيِّ هَذي النَيِّراتِ
حَيِّ الحِسانَ الخَيِّراتِ

2. And bow your forehead reverently
To the sanctified shrines

٢. وَاِخفِض جَبينَكَ هَيبَةً
لِلخُرَّدِ المُتَخَفِّراتِ

3. Adorn the mosques and sanctuaries
And the place of prayers

٣. زَينِ المَقاصِرِ وَالحِجا
لِ وَزَينِ مِحرابِ الصَلاةِ

4. This is the station of the Mothers
Could you appreciate Mothers?

٤. هَذا مَقامُ الأُمَّها
تِ فَهَل قَدَرتَ الأُمَّهاتِ

5. Do not digress in it or say
Other than perfect rhymes

٥. لا تَلغُ فيهِ وَلا تَقُل
غَيرَ الفَواصِلِ مُحكَماتِ

6. And when you preach, do not be
Sermons on the land of the young woman

٦. وَإِذا خَطَبتَ فَلا تَكُن
خَطباً عَلى مِصرَ الفَتاةِ

7. Mention Japan to her, not
Nations of lustful chaos

٧. اُذكُر لَها اليابانَ لا
أُمَمَ الهَوى المُتَهَتِّكاتِ

8. What did you find from civilization
O my confused brother?

٨. ماذا لَقيتَ مِنَ الحَضا
رَةِ يا أُخَيَّ التُرَّهاتِ

9. You did not find other than misery
From hardship on the Easterners

٩. لَم تَلقَ غَيرَ الرِقِّ مِن
عُسرٍ عَلى الشَرقِيِّ عاتِ

10. Take the Book and Tradition
And the path of the trusted ancestors

١٠. خُذ بِالكِتابِ وَبِالحَدي
ثِ وَسيرَةِ السَلَفِ الثِقاتِ

11. And return to the age of perfection
And follow the system of life

١١. وَاِرجِع إِلى سِنِّ الخَلي
قَةِ وَاِتَّبِع نُظمَ الحَياةِ

12. This is Allah's Messenger, he did not
Belittle the rights of believing women

١٢. هَذا رَسولُ اللَهِ لَم
يُنقِص حُقوقَ المُؤمِناتِ

13. Knowledge was a law
For his learned women

١٣. العِلمُ كانَ شَريعَةً
لِنِسائِهِ المُتَفَقِّهاتِ

14. They accepted trade and politics
And other affairs

١٤. رُضنَ التِجارَةَ وَالسِيا
سَةَ وَالشُؤونَ الأُخرَياتِ

15. And through his daughters
The ships of rich sciences sailed

١٥. وَلَقَد عَلَت بِبَناتِهِ
لُجَجُ العُلومِ الزاخِراتِ

16. Sakina filled the world
And mocked the storytellers

١٦. كانَت سُكَينَةُ تَملَأُ الدُن
يا وَتَهزَأُ بِالرُواةِ

17. She narrated Hadith and interpreted
The clear verses of the Book

١٧. رَوَتِ الحَديثُ وَفَسَّرَت
آيَ الكِتابِ البَيِّناتِ

18. And the civilization of Islam speaks
Of the status of Muslim women

١٨. وَحَضارَةُ الإِسلامِ تَن
طِقُ عَن مَكانِ المُسلِماتِ

19. Baghdad is the home of scholar
And residence of the cultured

١٩. بَغدادُ دارُ العالِما
تِ وَمَنزِلُ المُتَأَدِّباتِ

20. And Damascus under Umayyad
Mother of eloquent slave girls

٢٠. وَدِمَشقُ تَحتَ أُمَيَّةٍ
أُمُّ الجَواري النابِغاتِ

21. And the gardens of Andalus grew
Female composers and poets

٢١. وَرِياضُ أَندَلُسٍ نَمَي
نَ الهاتِفاتِ الشاعِراتِ

22. I call upon men to see
How the unity of singers

٢٢. أُدعُ الرِجالَ لِيَنظُروا
كَيفَ اِتِّحادُ الغانِياتِ

23. And benefit, how they took
Its causes cooperating

٢٣. وَالنَفعَ كَيفَ أَخَذنَ في
أَسبابِهِ مُتَعاوِناتِ

24. When they saw the glare of men
Arrogance or love of self

٢٤. لَمّا رَأَينَ نَدى الرِجا
لِ تَفاخُراً أَو حَبَّ ذاتِ

25. And saw the industries and arts
Wasted around them

٢٥. وَرَأَينَ عِندَهُمُ الصَنا
ئِعَ وَالفُنونَ مُضَيَّعاتِ

26. And righteousness with the rich
Among neglected affairs

٢٦. وَالبِرَّ عِندَ الأَغنِيا
ءِ مِنَ الشُؤونِ المُهمَلاتِ

27. They set out to build
Edifices of success

٢٧. أَقبَلنَ يَبنينَ المَنا
ئِرَ لِلنَجاحِ مُوَفَّقاتِ

28. For the righteous women the valleys'
Passion is in the righteous

٢٨. لِلصالِحاتِ عَقائِلِ ال
وادي هَوىً في الصالِحاتِ

29. Allah grew them in
His obedience a good growth

٢٩. اللَهُ أَنبَتَهُنَّ في
طاعاتِهِ خَيرَ النَباتِ

30. So they came the best that came
Blossom of virtues and traits

٣٠. فَأَتَينَ أَطيَبَ ما أَتى
زَهَرُ المَناقِبِ وَالصِفاتِ

31. It did not suffice to do good
Until they excelled the virtuous

٣١. لَم يَكفِ أَن أَحسَنَّ حَت
تى زِدنَ حَضَّ المُحصَناتِ

32. Walking in the path of reward
Profitable traders

٣٢. يَمشينَ في سوقِ الثَوا
بِ مُساوِماتٍ رابِحاتِ

33. Wearing the humility of beggars
And they did not mention the miserable

٣٣. يَلبَسنَ ذُلَّ السائِلا
تِ وَما ذَكَرنَ البائِساتِ

34. So their faces and lifestyles
Are veils on the adorned

٣٤. فَوُجوهُهُنَّ وَماؤُها
سِترٌ عَلى المُتَجَمِّلاتِ

35. Egypt renews its glory
With its renewed women

٣٥. مِصرٌ تُجَدِّدُ مَجدَها
بِنِسائِها المُتَجَدِّداتِ

36. The repulsed by stagnation
As if it is specter of death

٣٦. النافِراتُ مِنَ الجُمو
دِ كَأَنَّهُ شَبَحُ المَماتِ

37. Among them are there mummies?
What's between them and mummies?

٣٧. هَل بَينَهُنَّ جَوامِداً
فَرقٌ وَبَينَ المومِياتِ

38. When they took up our case
They were the best caregivers

٣٨. لَمّا حَضَنَّ لَنا القَضِي
يَةَ كُنَّ خَيرَ الحاضِناتِ

39. They fed it in its cradle
With their pure milk

٣٩. غَذَّينَها في مَهدِها
بِلِبانِهِنَّ الطاهِراتِ

40. And preceded teachers
To the schoolmistressed teachers

٤٠. وَسَبَقنَ فيها المُعلَمي
نَ إِلى الكَريهَةِ مُعلَماتِ

41. Breathing in the youths
Spirit of courage and firmness

٤١. يَنفُثنَ في الفِتيانِ مِن
روحِ الشَجاعَةِ وَالثَباتِ

42. They fall kissing the wounded
Or hugging the martyr

٤٢. يَهوَينَ تَقبيلَ المُهَن
نَدِ أَو مُعانَقَةَ القَناةِ

43. And they see even in battlefields
Kisses of men forbidden

٤٣. وَيَرَينَ حَتّى في الكَرى
قُبَلَ الرِجالِ مُحَرَّماتِ
