1. God has a pen of truth from a pen
Its freshness is sown with each new one

2. It has covered writing in all the easts
With beauty and released it from restriction

3. It gives the good style to each lazy one
And extends favor to each glorious one

4. It is more precious to writers if they obtain it
Than a diamond pen at al-Ghayd

5. And more pleasant on paper if it flows on it
Than an aromatic pen on the oud wood

6. It almost revives a visual companion with its whistling
And says the days of Ibn Muqla have returned

7. If there were nothing in the matter except that it
Is Egyptian, it would deserve my glorification
