I swear if you had believed

2. What was said in the Quran would not have happened
You and Iblis, you have

3. The highest lineage in Hell
And God is hoped for satisfaction

4. Among creation, trusted for wrath
So maybe you were appointed in the

5. Fire to carry wood
Or to wander among the burning

6. People of celebration there
Like my brother Hafiz of chastity

7. Or like Al-Nawasi, the well-mannered
Or like Matran who

8. Once came and turned away
Or like Abu Al-Latif whom

9. God protected from harm
Or like Abu Al-Ishad who

10. For misfortune, was hit with calamity
But I see with wonder

11. A man of glory and manners
From the family of the Truthful one who

12. Ruled, won, and conquered
The one through whom God

13. Relieved distress
Truly, for his grandfather’s sake

14. I broke fast without reason
Respecting, revering

15. This noble lineage
And I hoped I would

16. Get a bag of gold
Their habits in a time

17. When, oh men, virtue has gone
Yet they have given you

18. The worst nickname
When I came to them in a cloak

19. Adorned in the finest clothes
Well-groomed and perfumed

20. Wearing a wonderful robe
Family of Abu Bakr, you have

21. The highest status among people
You stood against the masters, the one who

22. Loved, gave, and bestowed
And in his night he was

23. Brought near, the one who drew close
Granting nicknames to whom he pleased

24. Flattering those who asked
So why after him

25. Did you do what should not be done
You nicknamed Abu Al-Dhiya

26. Your guest, Abu Lahab
