Spare no water in matters

4. I cry for friends in the abodes
Whose company has become empty

5. You owe it to your lifelong brethren
To uphold the covenant and brotherhood

6. Weep if you must for relief
It will relieve the hardship

7. He who created sorrow was more deserving
To create tears and crying

8. Blessed is God the Healer
Who created the disease and the cure

9. O friend I cried hoping
My crying settles his dues

10. If only tears could change fate
I would make my tears decide

11. And the likes of Abdel Latif deserves crying
And praise and mention to ensue

12. The lads of Qena shook
And the gazelles glowed

13. God depicted him as righteous
And his limbs poured shyness

14. And increased what his father's love gave him
Of religious tenacity and paternalism

15. And ribs that cannot be measured in purity
Through which the valleys and purity poured

16. He was neither cruel nor excessive
Nor came with the sorcery of rhetoric

17. Rather when he stood he spoke the truth
And avoided lies and hypocrisy

18. Glory to Him who provided him supper
And deprived him of dinner

19. And He who brought us the morning sun
And who escorted it at sunset

20. Oh world, you made pleasure enjoyable
For the people and made ordeal palatable

21. When we finish with it, it equals
What delighted of its conditions and miserable

22. The child crawls lovingly to you
And the old man walks to you bending

23. To you Abdel Latif cried
Compiling his scattered elegy

24. Rhymes you wished for
Today you show them disdain

25. How many times did you stand for Egypt
And were a shield beyond it

26. And flourished in its council
A deputy who was the anthem

27. Are you not one of the brave youth
Who habituated law and archery

28. Their youth sacrificed at dawn
What great slaughter and redemption

29. And their heroes died thirsty
In foreign lands, thirsty

30. Had they wanted the goods of life
They would have attained power and wealth

31. The cause of truth since it stood
Did not weaken its pillars

32. It emulates Mustafa and builds
A strong generation of truth

33. You have enacted for the youth a religion
Equal to their religion, unambiguous

34. Since you came with it, you made
Its pinnacle, elucidation

35. You united Egypt then moved on
Thus you were the unit and the banner

36. You did not know loyalty to other than Egypt
And its loved ones

37. You did not wipe the leader's head
Nor took off his shoes

38. And one playing with relics builds
Yesterday's incidents however he wished

39. He says you were a party of the Turks
And the ruler of the Turks your loyalists

40. And God bears witness you only came
With wisdom and cleverness

41. You sought through Egypt
Sovereignty which became trivial

42. Go to God for He is most deserving of you
And most fulfilling of your reward

43. No loss for the truth if you depart
For the idea endures
