1. I saw dogs in the abode of bliss
Their number matches or exceeds the inhabitants

2. Yet between them lies a difference
For in them lies zeal and love of country

3. Split into groups along the road
As an army divides its soldiers and leaders

4. Among them are the fat ones, sheep-sized
And the tiny ones, grasshopper-sized

5. They enjoy sleeping on the pavement
And giving birth openly on the road

6. Their stench can foul the air
Yet they guard it like an act of worship
