2. Whoever doubts this, here is the proof -
Reason has departed along with the cup of every literary man.

3. Beware of Ahmad and Al-Walid both,
Who have inhaled praise and the leaf of youth.

4. How much parable that travels lightly and wisdom in it
Remains over the world like the permanence of military outposts.

5. O guardian of etiquette and hero
From whom is hoped, in days of hardship in the land,

6. Say to the seas, "Confine your pearls out of love,
Whether pierced or without holes."

7. Ask not the shells what has been deposited in them -
In these pages lies every marvel.
