1. Great rest awaits the weary,
And he who tirelessly seeks right prevails.

2. Egypt shall not fulfill her every wish,
Until she wraps grief's skirts around her waist.

3. In this matter, be steadfast and true,
Let no mishap make you fretful or forlorn.

4. The eye cannot fix or prove a thing
When tears confound it and turmoil churns.

5. Though dawn is bright before your eyes,
Doubt and suspicion will eclipse its light.

6. If you seek greatly, then be ready,
Or draw the spears of resolve and will.

7. Do not count small things too little,
For the small are no trifle to the sublime.

8. You'll find no company so sound in the end
As truth and patience joined and intertwined.

9. When backed fully into a corner, men
Will turn to cooperation from discord.

10. There is no doubt the hopes' horizons are vast,
And the long night of woes dawns clear and close.

11. In Egypt's peace and her knight's repose,
Lost rights and pacts will be reclaimed at last.

12. God opens doors - mayhap beyond them
Are broad hopes and ample space for us.

13. But for God's hand, we'd not repel
Nor counter onslaughts however hard.

14. Great endeavor will not go without reward,
Be you conqueror or conquered afterward.

15. God will recompense every earnest effort -
Never do the efforts of the good go to waste.

16. Affairs are not concluded till clear to you
Whether, in the end, they are bane or boon.

17. You gained great things and give no trifle,
Save what law ordains or need prescribes.

18. Hard obstacles loom ahead, not simple;
Such trials all resolute men arise to face.

19. More obstacles come that will not bend
To might, until the people freely choose.

20. Tomorrow their minds and wisdom lend;
If carefully weighed before they leap or cruise.

21. How much seeming easy today, you aspired to,
Yet tomorrow is hard, however much you contrived!

22. Join strengths and shun all disaccord,
Do not sing your own praises thinking them laud.

23. Does the blind frenzy and turmoil protect
Those who died or that which was robbed away?

24. Leave the laurels to history, for it will weave
Crowns of pearl and ivory in its own way.

25. Men's affairs are for it, not some few
Whose news and books have sped ahead of them.

26. Swayed by hate and passion they spewed,
Hands pouring water and hands pouring fire.

27. When in a nation you see passion rule,
You may judge there reason has fled away.

28. They said protection was gone. I said no wonder -
Its falsehood in you was the thing to wonder!

29. Protection's head is lopped off, but not lost
Is God's care, that cuts folly down to size.

30. Had you asked that prophet on Jalula's day
With which sword did he strike their necks surprise,

31. Would he say, the one he unfurled that day
When making truce, or the one when war bled?

32. Or was it the coming together for what is right
In a land assailed by woe and dread?

33. O opener of Jerusalem, sheathe your sword -
The cross was not iron but only wood.

34. If you see how far his hand reached
And how in his rule he surpassed the poles,

35. You'd know that behind weakness lies power
And that right, not might, is given victory.
