So we sent our hearts to you in yearning.

2. Urging their essence with love and longing,
To the generous king, son of the generous.

3. The desert took care of your shade until,
Its heat became the coolness of bliss.

4. You passed by it, so it shook off its misery,
Like Jesus when he passed by the withered.

5. You are the Nile, reviving and beneficial,
Spreading wellness in the sickly land.

6. The countries congratulate and bless,
Those upon it, with a blessed new year.

7. Its crescent moon grows more beautiful,
The crescent of your charming smile.

8. The years have risen to you in love,
And the new has become lost in the old.

9. So live as long as you wish in renewal,
With the jewel of time like a strung necklace.

10. I pronounced it blessed for Egypt,
And for the throne and the noble heir.

11. I sent my joys in books to be seen,
To a king of sincerity and knowledge.

12. And I inscribed his virtues in poetry,
Even if praising was hard for me.
