1. The Diwan of Rami under the Margin of Youth
Many narrators swarmed to its sweetness

2. Yesterday, nay the echo of prohibition and fasting
And today for the next, the first a muzzle

3. Poetry flowed, wherein youth was as though
The sides of a garden overcast by clouds

4. In each verse a gathering and wine
And by each gate a standstill and passion

5. O Rami your words hit their mark
You have a purpose in the plain, not to be denied

6. Take in your sights distance after distance
For youth, after it are the days

7. As for Zuhair he made his old age soar
And with your poetry you shall make the pyramids soar

8. So take genius as your own and gently lift it
For each full moon a rising and completeness
