1. A man wished that I would die; and if I die,
That is a path where you are not alone.
١. تَمنّى رِجالٌ أَن أَموتَ وَإِن أَمُت
فَتِلكَ سَبيلٌ لَستَ فيها بِأَوحَدِ
2. And he who desires my ruin cannot really harm me;
Nor does the death of those who died before me make me immortal.
٢. وَلَيسَ الَّذي يَبغي خِلافي يَضُرُّني
وَلا مَوتُ مَن قَد ماتَ قَبلي بِمُخلِدي
3. For I and those who died before me are like one
Who visits a friend, or goes away and returns.
٣. وَإِنّي وَمَن قَد ماتَ قَبلي لَكَالَّذي
يَزورُ خَليلاً أَو يُروحُ وَيَغتَدي
