1. By God, if the young man lived a thousand years
Controlling his affairs as he willed
١. وَاللَهِ لَو عاشَ الفَتى مِن دَهرِهِ
أَلفاً مِنَ الأَعوامِ مالِكَ أَمرِهِ
2. Indulging in every pleasure
And attaining all of his desires
٢. مُتَلَذِّذاً فيهِ بِكُلِّ هَنِيَّةٍ
وَمُبَلَّغاً كُلَّ المُنى مِن دَهرِهِ
3. Never knowing pain even once
Nor worries troubling his thoughts
٣. لا يَعرِفُ الآلامَ فيها مَرَّةً
كَلّا وَلا جَرَتِ الهُمومُ بِفِكرِهِ
4. That would not help him on the first night
When he lies in his grave
٤. ما كانَ ذَاكَ يُفيدُهُ مِن عُظمِ ما
يَلقى بِأَوَّلِ لَيلَةٍ في قَبرِهِ
