1. Welcome, welcome to a guest who's arrived
May God protect a companion who's departed
١. فَأَهلاً وَسَهلاً بَضَيفٍ نَزَل
وَاِستَودَعَ اللَهُ إِلفاً رَحَل
2. Youth has passed as though it had never been
While old age remains as though it had always been
٢. تَوَلّى الشَبابُ كَأَنَّ لَم يَكُن
وَحَلَّ المَشيبُ كَأَنَّ لَم يَزَل
3. And so old age appeared like the break of dawn
While youth faded like the waning moon
٣. فَأَمّا المَشيبُ كَصُبحٍ بَدا
وَأَمّا الشَبابُ كَبَدرٍ أَفَل
4. May God water them both, together
Excellent is He who transforms, excellent the exchange
٤. سَقى اللَهُ ذاكَ وَهَذا مَعاً
فَنِعمَ المُوَلّي وَنِعمَ البَدَل
