١. فَلَو أَنّي أُطِعتُ عُصبَتُ قَومي
إِلى رُكنِ اليَمامَةِ أَو شآمِ
2. But when I decide on an affair
I die opposing the opinions of the ignorant mob
٢. وَلَكِني إِذا أَبرَمتُ أَمراً
مُنيتُ بِخَلفِ آراءِ الطِغامِ
