1. I see a hidden war and peace
And a covenant not firmly bound.
١. أَرى حَرباً مُغيّبةً وَسِلماً
وَعَهداً لَيسَ بِالعَهدِ الوَثيقِ
2. I see a thing whose links are loosed,
And a rope not firmly wound.
٢. أَرى أَمراً تُنَقَّضُ عُروَتاهُ
وَحَبلاً لَيسَ بِالحَبلِ الوَثيقِ
