1. Tell the heir apparent, should you meet him,
The heir apparent is more rightly guided.
١. قُل لِوالي العَهدِ إن لاقَيتَهُ
وَوَلِيُّ العَهدِ أَولى بِالرَّشَد
2. By God, were it not for you, no servant
Of the Eternal would have escaped me unharmed.
٢. إِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ لَولا أَنتَ لَم
يَنجُ مِنّي سالِماً عَبدُ الصَّمَد
3. He has plotted against me a plot—
None before him has plotted its like against me.
٣. إِنَّهُ قَد رامَ مِنّي خُطَّةً
لَم يَرُمها قَبلَهُ مِنّي أَحَد
4. So he is to me like one who would stalk
A lynx from among base jackals.
٤. فَهوَ مِمّا رامَ مِنّي كَالَّذي
يَقنُصُ الدُّراجَ مِن خيسِ الأَسَد
