1. Tell me, by your Lord, O Rajab
My path, your matter is wondrous

2. What hardships you endure if you are stricken
And you feel not the distress

3. I see in you what
Makes my troubled heart bleed

4. Spasms and tossing
And stiffening like wood

5. Sometimes you moan and sometimes
You writhe as if death nears you

6. A body without soul
So where has the soul gone, O you?

7. I say death has
Stealthily crept upon him

8. And I feel your heart then
Trembling and throbbing

9. As if it were a pendulum in
Its ticks, or moth larvae

10. Your eyes flare red
My God, like flames

11. Do you see us as we
Wait expectantly before you?

12. Tell me and confess to me
And have you known the cause for this?

13. And when was the first time
You were afflicted with it? Answer.

14. Perhaps my advice may benefit you
Or aid you in exhaustion

15. For the advice of a fool
May benefit and enlighten

16. The epileptic spoke up angrily
Do not stir up anger

17. Enough of the pain that
I have, a disease like scabies

18. A disease when consciousness
Withdraws from me

19. I know nothing, I see
Nothing even if one nears me

20. Like a dead man or like a rock
Does inanimate stone complain of firewood?

21. And when I wake I am ashamed
Of myself as if I sinned

22. A disease of the nerves befell me
So there is no escape or flight from it

23. And it is provoked by memories of my homeland
And the tragedies and distress

24. And the Italians' atrocities in it
With intent to annihilate the Arabs

25. In war or in peace, they do not stop
The deeds of the usurper

26. Poverty and murder and oppression
And exile of refugees

27. Knowledge and morals have vanished
And virtues and literature

28. They forbade us everything
Of newspapers or books

29. Unless it satisfies them
With false words or lies

30. Away with them, those oppressors
Failed is their endeavor and perished

31. Prescribe a cure for me if you can
For I have explained the cause to you

32. Listen to it, while in my heart
There is a blazing fire flaming

33. My tears flowed and I burst out
Weeping, and I lamented

34. I have tasted that which
Others have tasted, but I am steadfast

35. I have steeled my soul for misfortunes
And calamities and distress

36. And I replied while tears
Poured down my cheeks

37. Patience, O Darbi, for you have
Nothing but patience to choose

38. And forget a little these
Memories, for the oppressed has a Lord

39. And be certain that the group of
The Italians, their star has set

40. Look at them in the wars
They have nothing but flight

41. They are like fireflies in battles
And like locusts in gatherings

42. Perhaps the religion of the unjust
And the time for their defeat is near

43. God is capable of punishing
And time is full of wonders

44. You will see with your eyes what pleases you
In your enemy, O Rajab
