1. For whom did you create pleasures, for those who sought
The happiness of living in a world of joys?

2. Or for those who tyrannized the earth and committed
Upon it crimes and felonies?

3. Or for those whose hearts have been hardened by fate
Who do not deprive the poor of morsels?

4. And though the world watches over them
They do not feel the agony of wounds.

5. And though they pretend to ignore their reality
They glance arrows at people if they look.

6. You created wretchedness in the life of this world
For those who feared their Lord.

7. Enslaved, naked, famished, with no shelter
To house them for a time.

8. Their life is each day like their resurrection
Unjustly in the worst of conditions.

9. Lord, be gentle with us and have mercy on Your servants against
The ingratitude of Your justice in the wilds.

10. Or their senses are confused like beasts, seeking
Nothing but to fill their bellies.

11. Lord, we have sinned against You so do not
Punish us for our misdeeds.

12. For You have said, excellent words revealed
In verses to inspire nobleness.

13. They ruled over us and called off the torture
Until they bequeathed us the vices of enmities.

14. They betrayed covenants and yesterday cajoled me
At the ministry to show me signs.

15. Say to those who were fooled by his speech
Do not rejoice and prepare for disasters.
