1. Slow down, you've rushed my death

Allah, this heavy blood is hard to bear

3. You've left me nothing but a passion
I implore you, gently reclaim it

4. If you must slay me with love
Pray to Allah, do not act

5. Be gentle with my frail remains
Without you they have no refuge

6. So delicate his body seems
Tears flow freely down his cheeks

7. No use in destroying him
Keep your covenant, do not neglect

8. Many a slain lover like me
Blameless yet tested with torment

9. The first slain by love was I
My killer was no equal judge

10. O you who deny me patience and grace
Do not ask of my state without you

11. Your love has left me distraught
Not knowing what's happened to me

12. I choke on tears to save
The sweetness of your lips that left

13. I'd ransom you with my soul and more
What value in souls if you accept

14. O branch that bent to your nature
And guided my eyes to my death

15. O archer who struck with marvelous aim
And did not hesitate to release

16. His arrow pierced my passion
Like fate itself unleashed

17. Alas my heart is slain by unjust love
Taking blame though I did no wrong

18. I ask Allah's forgiveness, though
I spoke no words and committed no acts

19. O most just yet unjust in your rule
O most rightful yet nullified

20. I found your torment sweet
So leave if you wish or unite
