1. To ransom you, if one had the means,
He would spare himself misery and ruin.

2. So you were not terrified by the vicissitudes of time,
Nor did the night of death make you lie down.

3. Neither did the dawn frighten away from you a fleeing herd,
Nor did the night shake for you a prepared abode.

4. You did not find complaint an ascent to your heights,
Nor tribulations a ladder ascending your skies.

5. Neither did sorrow find in the gardens of your glory a pasture,
Nor worry find in the expanse of your sea a watering place.

6. Nor did the water of tears find in your eyes a path,
Nor the fire of passion find in your ribs a hearth.

7. And when I ransom you willingly with my soul,
My grandfather attained loyalty and bliss.

8. Why wouldn’t I ransom the generous and the sublime,
And the ways of merit, munificence and dew?

9. But I see the eloquence of your wise opinion for restraint,
And your endeavor for the good and your guidance to the right path.

10. Meeting you, you were only met with forbearance,
And your ordeal was only endured with perseverance,

11. The heart’s beloved were armed with misfortunes,
Which came in succession, singular and united.

12. You appeared only manifesting patience,
And only returning with most praiseworthy endurance,

13. Worthy, as the loss of Muhammad hurt you,
Solacing the Prophet Muhammad’s memory.

14. To deserve abundant, redoubled reward,
And to embrace beautiful, prolonged endurance,

15. Higher than the star that hides covetously
And purer than the blossoming branch.

16. In you, a crescent courses and ascends,
And a branch contends, from you, origin and unified.

17. Bliss is completed through it and misery consoled,
And the world kept away and enmity agonized.
