1. My Lord, worries have reached their limit for Your servant,
On the day You summon souls to their fate.
2. And life's efforts end for one who hasn't
Aspired beyond what You deemed enough.
3. Strange that thirst would kill one
When the earth's seas are under his control.
4. A king whose smallest pleasure
Promised him ample riches and pleasures galore,
5. Who spent lavishly, holding nothing back,
If it cured his yearning - if only for a moment.
6. And he was healed by the swords of his enemies,
Had You willed to protect him from their evils.
7. If You call him to You, the noblest soul
Is Your humblest, most devoted slave.
8. Or if the place of death is nearer to him,
Whether You take him at dusk or dawn.
