1. When you adorned it, the mosque sighed in relief,
The wishes called out to it, “Welcome!”

2. Adorned with glory are its valleys,
Bringing humiliation to the faces of enemies.

3. When the army went astray with it, you guided it,
It is unfitting for your forehead to deviate or go astray.

4. The winds of victory blew apart,
The clouds of death thundered and poured down.

5. Your graying sideburns like torches,
You used them to strike the enemies with sorrow and ease.

6. You were its confidential advisor, openly and secretly,
You were its trusted one, in word and deed.

7. You were the executor of God’s rule over it,
Illuminating with his light, truth and justice.

8. So betrayal obtained its arrows,
While you triumphed, winning the sublime flask.

9. No sun has risen from the darkness,
Like your face in the fray when it rose.

10. No jewelry shone on swords,
Like your sword covered with their blood.

11. When the conquests come to you in succession,
Then the most deserving of them is the most deserving.

12. Good tidings came to you as recurring images,
So do not grieve over whatever turns away.

13. Do not despair from the high-reaching towers,
With the clubs, for with you is the Most High.

14. How often does a lofty eagle perch,
When a hope stretches out to your hands, hanging down.
