4. Until he returned the religion shining white
While disbelief became gloomy and blackened,

5. God expanded the shade of the pure religion with his sword and spear
Stretching far and wide,

6. With virtues that testify he is
The most generous and finest man of his time,

7. And with qualities that if the terror of his sword sensed,
The world would become enslaved by their gentleness,

8. He attained the lowest of his lofty goals
Until the horizons fell short of his efforts,

9. And assaulted the enemies fiercely until
The necks of the west submitted to him,

10. With resolves during battle like those of Qahtan
That left the lands of polytheism desolate and destroyed,

11. O the veiled one, who inherited leadership, glory,
Kingship and greatness, most glorious!

12. And the blessed leader, the moon that
Dispels the darkness when it appears,

13. The bright flower, the king who
Wore dew and valor like clothes,

14. If he surpasses some stars in good fortune,
They have all submitted to him, most fortunate!

15. Pride of your source that did not leave
For the swords of the non-Arabs a place to strike,

16. God has, because of you, events against polytheism
That presented war against evils spectacularly,

17. No battle like Barbastro when you besieged it,
Pride that raged against time and helped,

18. You mobilized against polytheism in it a deadly sword
That you trained to strike skulls so it grew accustomed,

19. And you unleashed it for God in it as plunder
That thereafter prevented a cross from being worshipped,

20. And you stood at the monastery in it with a stand
That was an appointment to support God in it,

21. And Cuñela where you contended with an opponent
Whose warfare sparked with violent thunderclaps,

22. And by my eyewitness on the day you battled to conquer it
A sea of bright swords raging,

23. So I saw what stars you made fall
And witnessed what was told of a lion pouncing,

24. With war raging and its sparks
Lighting up the Almohad fires,

25. The confused sun in the sky as if
Blinking at the world with bleary eyes,

26. Horses taking the ground as if
Seeking ascent to Canopus from it,

27. You see only the flashing of polished swords
Striking in the battle like lightning,

28. And the glitter of bright flowers like meteors
That guide the lost souls away from darkness,

29. So a stealthy lion from you went forth at it
Not resting except for glory, never withdrawing,

30. Refusing to sheathe the sword even for an hour
Until he sees it back in the scabbards,

31. You left Murcia as if your swords
Had torn it to pieces and shreds,

32. You shortened its existence with but a hour's stand
Keeping great and eternal glory for you,

33. You built the honor of Muslims by destroying what
Had been the honor of disbelief you demolished,

34. And you left Orihuela with the anger for its betrayal
Terrified and chained in the open desert,

35. Raiding its day in fear with your soldiers
And its night in terror with your horsemen,

36. You widened the free lands of his towns
And homes with the burning flames you ignited,

37. You led astray the tribes of infidels and their allies
And misguided the followers of misguidance, not guiding them!

38. Come O sons of al-Mansur, our souls are for you
And the souls of those in East and West are ransoms,

39. Today your conquest makes me forget all before it
Just as your conquest tomorrow will make me forget today!
