1. The stars of good fortune rose from their horizons,
The land shone bright with their rising.

١. طَلَعَتْ نجومُ السعدِ من آفاقها
فالأَرضُ تشرِقُ من سنا إِشراقِها

2. For the supreme eyebrow who directs determination,
United with its Levant and Iraq.

٢. للحاجِبِ الأَعْلى المُصَرِّف هِمَّةً
موصولةً بشآمِها وعِراقِها

3. With the crescent moons of guidance for the Arabs
So the goal of its zeal is to catch up with it.

٣. بهلالِ أَقمارِ الهُدى من يَعْرُبٍ
فَمُنى مَساعِي شأْوِها بِلَحَاقِها

4. The risings upon guidance completely,
And the settings upon deviation vanishing.

٤. الطالِعاتُ عَلَى الهُدى بِتَمامِها
والطالعات عَلَى العِدى بِمَحَاقِها

5. The new moon rises over the wastelands in comfort
As guidance and kingdom spread their shade.

٥. والمُسْتَهِلُّ عَلَى العُفَاةِ بِراحَةٍ
وَسِعَ الهُدى والمُلْكَ ظِلُّ رِواقِها

6. Thus religion flourishes from the dew of its pouring,
And blasphemy trembles from the flood of its rage.

٦. فالدينُ يونعُ من نَدى إِغْدَاقِها
والكفرُ يَرْجُفُ من ردَى إِصْعاقِها

7. Successor to al-Mansur in his resolves,
And the horses racing with their necks outstretched.

٧. خَلَفاً من المنصورِ فِي عَزَماتِهِ
والخيلُ جاريَةٌ عَلَى أَعْراقِها

8. The throats of singers were adorned by him, after
The clamor bid farewell to their gatherings and separation.

٨. زُهِيَتْ نحورُ الغانِياتِ بِهِ وَقَدْ
سامَ الوغى بوَدَاعِها وفِراقِها

9. Sipping the drafts before their very lips,
And embracing the heroes before their very throats.

٩. مُتَرَشِّفُ الهبواتِ قبلَ شِفاهِها
ومُعَانِقُ الأَبطالِ قبلَ عِناقِها

10. The blades quivered in their sheaths toward him,
And the horses inclined their necks toward him.

١٠. قَلِقَتْ إِلَيْهِ البيضُ فِي أَغْمادِها
وثَنَتْ إِلَيْهِ الخيلُ من أَعناقِها

11. Bursting forth upon the wastelands from valor,
By it the days gained in their provisions.

١١. مُتَفَجِّرٌ لِعُفَاتِهِ عن شِيمَةٍ
زادَتْ بِهَا الأَيامُ فِي أَرزاقِها

12. Baring latent might,
If war bared its legs to him.

١٢. متكَشِّفٌ عن سطوةٍ مذخورَةٍ
للحربِ إِنْ كَشَفَتْ لَهُ عن ساقِها

13. Souls that found in him the fragrance of hopes would ransom him,
And gazes that eyed him longingly,

١٣. تَفْدِيهِ مِنَّا أَنْفُسٌ وَجَدَتْ بِهِ
ريحانة الأمال فِي إِنْشاقِها

14. As though they could carry him in their pupils.
In the garden of kingship wherein flows

١٤. ونَوَاظِرٌ حَفَّتْ بِهِ تَوَّاقَةٌ
لَوْ أَنَّها حَمَلَتْهُ فِي أَحْداقِها

15. The water of bliss, gladdening in its leaves,
And all things gained more beauty,

١٥. فِي رَوْضَةِ المُلكِ الَّتِي يَجْرِي بِهَا
ماءُ النَّعِيمِ يروقُ فِي أَورَاقِها

16. Even the doves of Aika in their collars.
O you who populated the ways of guidance the most,

١٦. وازدادَت الأَشياءُ حُسناً كُلُّها
حَتَّى حمامُ الأَيْكِ فِي أَطْواقِها

17. No birds chirped after the horses were set loose.

١٧. يا عامراً من أَعْمَرُوا سُبُلَ الهُدى
لا دَرَّ دَرُّ الخيلِ بَعْدَ عِتاقِها
