1. Your abandonment has become my habit,
And pining for you has become my addiction,
١. دَأْبُكَ الهَجْرُ وَدَابِي
فيكَ إِدمانُ التَّصابِي
2. Oh you who lead me to my death,
Because of you I have become afflicted with what ails me,
٢. أَيُّهَا المُغْرَى بقَتْلِي
بِكَ أَصْبَحْتُ لِمَا بِي
3. Neither complaining nor giving shelter to my estrangement,
And healing the torment of my injury,
٣. لا ومَنْ آوى اغتِرابِي
وشفى حَرَّ مُصابي
4. And sufficing me after times of hardship,
Protecting me from the evil of torment.
٤. وكفانِي صَرْفَ دهرٍ
سامَني سُوءَ العذابِ
5. My eyes have not seen a more splendid gazelle,
Radiating in the prime of youth,
٥. ما رأَتْ عيني كَظَبْيٍ
لاحَ فِي تِمِّ الشَّبابِ
6. The night lowered its veil,
On the softness of letting down the veil,
٦. أَسْبَلَ الليلَ عَلَى مَتْ
نَيْهِ إِسبالَ النِّقابِ
7. Then appeared like the appearance of the
Moon from beneath the clouds,
٧. فَتَجَلَّى كَتَجَلِّي الْ
بَدْرِ من تَحْتِ السَّحابِ
8. In necklaces of stars,
And veils of mirage,
٨. فِي عقودٍ من نجومٍ
ووِشاحٍ من سَرَابِ
9. It is my sleep and my joy,
My pillow and my sorrow.
٩. فَهْوَ نومَي وسُرورِي
وسُهَادِي واكْتِئَابِي
