كسيت بدولتك اليالي نورا

1. Your state has adorned the nights with light
And the world shook with joy towards you

١. كسِيَتْ بدولَتِكَ اليالي نُورا
واهتَزَّتِ الدنيا إِلَيْكَ سُرُورا

2. And if you look at wishes, you find
A fate for us and for you destined by you

٢. وإِذا تأَمَّلْتَ المُنى أَلْفَيْتَها
قَدَراً لكُمْ ولَنَا بِكُمْ مَقْدُورا

3. And if the kings boast, you are found
The noblest of face and chest of every king

٣. وإِذا تفاخَرَتِ الملوكُ وُجِدْتُمُ
من كُلِّ ملكٍ أَوْجُهاً وصُدورا

4. And you have in the two worlds exerted
Efforts that adorned them, departing and subjugating

٤. وخلعتُمُ فِي العالَمينَ مساعِياً
حلَّيْنَهُنَّ مَفارِقاً ونحورا

5. And if eras contend, I find you
O House of Tubba', eras upon eras

٥. وإِذا الدهورُ تساجَلَتْ أُلْفِيتُمُ
يَا آل تُبَّعَ للدُّهورِ دُهورا

6. Of every era that does not cease as if
It is a tablet displaying your pride inscribed

٦. من كل دهرٍ لا يزالُ كَأَنَّهُ
لَوْحٌ يلُوحُ بفخْرِكُمْ مَسْطُورا

7. It is recited, so souls split as if
With musk its beauty the camphor inscribed

٧. يُتْلى فَتَنْشَقُهُ النفوسُ كأنما
بالمِسْكِ خَطَّ غُواتُهُ الكافورا

8. For you is the sky of the kingdom, it has not ceased with you
To be adorned, so it shines with stars and full moons

٨. لكُمُ سماءُ الملكِ مَا زَالَتْ بكُمْ
تُزْهى فتشرِقُ أنجماً وبدورا

9. And for you are the gardens of earth you water mankind
With blessings, so it grows lush and grateful

٩. ولكم رياضُ الأَرضِ تَسْقُونَ الورى
نِعَماً فتنبِتُ حامِداً وشَكُورا

10. So congratulations O Yahya, you have inherited
From it your abundant share

١٠. فتهنَّ يَا يَحْيى تُرَاثَ مآثِرٍ
أَحرزْتَ منها حظَّكَ الموفورا

11. From every possessor of kingdom, your growth they begot
A full moon for their pride, an illuminating illuminator

١١. من كل ذِي مُلْكٍ نَمَوْكَ فأَنْجَبُوا
بدراً لفخْرِهِمُ المنيرِ مُنِيرا

12. And they entrusted you with traits and beauties
That became honorable, so you were worthy of protecting them

١٢. واستودَعُوكَ شمائِلاً ومحاسِناً
كَرُمَتْ فكنت بحفظِهِنَّ جديرا

13. So you connected what they connected of lineage which
With your descendants was protected lest it be seen abandoned

١٣. فوصلْتَ مَا وصلُوا من النسبِ الَّذِي
بِذَرَاكَ عُوِّذَ أَن يُرى مهجورا

14. So you judged with an all-encompassing just rule
Two lights which their harmony increased in light

١٤. فَحَكَمْتَ فِي حَكَمٍ بشملٍ جامعٍ
نورَيْن زادَهُما التألُّفُ نورا

15. Two moons neither this nor that was known
To have a peer, nor that to this a parallel

١٥. قَمَرَيْنِ لَمْ يعرِفْ لتِلْكَ نظيرَةً
هَذَا ولا هَذِي لذاكَ نَظيرا

16. So you united their people with the market of a feast
The ground was perfumed with their blood

١٦. فَلأَمْتَ شَعْبَهُمَا بسوقِ ولِيمَةٍ
راح الثَّرى بدمائِها مَمْطُورا

17. It tells of the deaths of those hostile to you, you did not find
One protected from the judgement of your sword in the lands

١٧. تحكي مَصارِعَ من عُدَاتِكَ لَمْ تَجِدْ
من حُكْمِ سيفِكَ فِي البلادِ مُجِيرا

18. So you deterred until he who opposed you
Became cautious, observing that he may be deterred

١٨. فَجَزَرْتَ حَتَّى باتَ من عادَيْتَهُ
حَذِراً يراقِبُ أن يكونَ جَزُورا

19. And you raised above them in the darkness of night
A blonde whose pavilions the canopy emulated

١٩. ورفَعْتَ فِي ظُلَمِ الدياجِي عَنْهُما
شقراءَ باتَ لَهَا السِّماكُ سَمِيرا

20. A fire representing beneath its smoke's shadow
The hooves of the horses and your famed sword

٢٠. ناراً تُمَثِّلُ تَحْتَ ظلِّ دُخانِها
كِسْفَ العَجاجِ وسيفَكَ المَشْهُورا

21. And around it the blossoms of stars beneath it
A moon eclipsed beneath it, blackened

٢١. وتخالُها زُهْرُ الكواكِبِ تَحْتَها
قمراً تَغَشَّى دونَها ساهُورا

22. In a scene that became at night a warner to the enemy
And in the morning for us near you a bearer of good tidings

٢٢. في مشهدٍ أَمسى نذيراً لِلْعِدى
وغَدَا لَنَا بالقربِ منكَ بشيرا

23. To whom we call the cowardly, as obedience to you suffices
Against he who responds to you with spoils and volunteers

٢٣. نُدْعى لَهُ الجَفَلى فحسبُكَ طاعَةً
مِمَّنْ يجيبُكَ مَغْنَماً ونفيرا

24. And he who sees the lowering of grace forbidden
A day you show him your unfurled banner

٢٤. ولمن يرى خَفْضَ النعيمِ مُحَرَّماً
يوماً تُرِيهِ لواءَكَ المنشورا

25. So you drew from the shells of failings a pearl
You adorned from it four palaces

٢٥. فجَلَوْتَ من صَدَفِ المقاصِرِ دُرَّةً
حلَّيْتَ منها أَرْبُعاً وقُصُورا

26. Spring blossomed for it through your generosity so it became
Watered by it a flowing spring

٢٦. بَكَرَ الربيعُ لَهَا بجودِكَ فاغْتَدَتْ
تُسْقَى بِهِ ماءَ الحياةِ نَمِيرا

27. So it dressed the houses in delicious food and drinks
And dressed the beds in vitality and joy

٢٧. فكسا المنازِلَ مَطْعَماً ومشارِباً
وكسا الأَسِرَّةَ نَضْرَةً وسرورا

28. Each you dressed in gowns, carpets
And couches, and cushions

٢٨. كُلّاً كسوْتَ دَرَانِكاً ونمارِقاً
وزرابِياً وأرائِكاً وخُدُورا

29. And the soldiers continued from you as if
Stepping on scattered pearls

٢٩. وتتابَعَتْ منك الجنودُ كَأَنَّما
يَطَؤُونَ منها لُؤْلُؤاً منثورا

30. And the flashes of polished swords shone in it
Wearing the mail of interlinked rings

٣٠. وتَلأْلأَتْ فِيهَا بُرُوقُ مَجامِرٍ
يكسُونَ أَصْبارَ المُسُوكِ صَبِيرا

31. A downpour with rosewater poured as if
To a groom it tailored gowns of silk

٣١. هَطِلاً بماءِ الوَرْدِ سَحَّ كَأَنَّما
والى فَرَوَّضَ سُنْدُساً وحريرا

32. A day for you the dew's testimonies were written
In musk in the pages of faces in lines

٣٢. يومٌ لَكَ اكتُتِبَتْ شهادَاتُ النَّدى
بالمِسْكِ فِي صُحُفِ الوجوهِ سُطُورا

33. Appearing so we read in the expression of its lines
The effort of your hands and your appreciated striving

٣٣. تبدُو فَنَقْرأُ فِي بيانِ خُطوطِها
جَدْوَى يَدَيْكَ وسعيَكَ المشكورا

34. For God, Umm Muhaira did not believe
In her high bridal gift anything exalted

٣٤. للهِ أُمُّ مهيرَةٍ لم تعتَقِدْ
فِي مَهْرِها العِلْقِ الخطيرَ خَطيرا

35. She was led to your rule, so it became
A king noble with her and a prince

٣٥. زُفَّتْ إِلَى حَكَمٍ بِحُكْمِكَ فاغْتدى
مَلِكاً مليكاً عِنْدَها وأميرا

36. And happiness has covered the sky with planets
And good fortune has gathered the air with birds

٣٦. والسعْدُ قَدْ شمل السماءَ كواكِباً
واليُمْنُ قَدْ حَشَدَ الهواءَ طُيُورا

37. And if you had given her away negligently as a father
You would have given her nothing but famed swords

٣٧. ولوِ ابْتَذَلْتَ بِهَا مَخَفَّةَ والِدٍ
لَمْ تُعْطِها إِلّا السيوفَ مُهُورا

38. And when you prepared a wedding feast for her
Nothing but war horses, rancorous and enraged

٣٨. ولَمَا جَزَرْتَ لَهَا وليمةَ مُعْرِسٍ
إِلّا الضَّراغِمَ عادِياً وهَصُورا

39. And the day of battle its fire was
A raging war, cauldrons boiling

٣٩. ولكانَ يومَ الزَّحْفِ مَوْقِدَ نارِها
حرباً تفور مَرَاجِلاً وقُدورا

40. And when you raised for her a lofty smoke
Nothing but horsemen in the sky and lances

٤٠. ولما رفعت لَهَا دخاناً ساطِعاً
إِلّا عَجاجاً فِي السماءِ ومُورا

41. Until she settled, and you have filled our lands
With enemy spoils and gentle maidens

٤١. حَتَّى تؤوبَ وَقَدْ مَلأْتَ بلادَنا
نِعَمَ العِدى والناعماتِ الحُورا

42. So you have fully lived, O House of Yahya, your lives
In the kingdom of Yahya, prosperously populated

٤٢. فتملَّؤُوا يَا آلَ يحيى عُمْرَكُمْ
فِي مُلْكِ يحيى بالمنى معمورا

43. And you were watered and nurtured by his life
And protected from the feared loss of him

٤٣. وسُقيتُمُ ورُعيتُمُ بحياتِهِ
ووُقيتُمُ من فَقْدِهِ المحذورا
