1. My dear ones, patience brings comfort in hardship
Nothing is like patience in distress for the free

2. So do not despair of joy after sadness
And that you find ease after hardship

3. For many a prisoner was bound in chains
Yet released by the Merciful from the shackles

4. If I'm captured prisoner while you are
It is not war but treason that binds us

5. If I feared what has befallen me
I would be protected by the wings of the honorable knights

6. For the youth know I am their defender
And their valiant horseman in the hour of panic

7. So messenger inform my anxious parents
I send regards and greetings in my memory

8. And convey to my bride peace
And say to her my greetings until the day we meet before the Divine

9. For my sake may my Creator on the day I meet Him
Replace your anxiety with reward for my death and capture

10. If there be no tomb, the nest of eagles is best
For the youth than any grave or burial place
