1. Raji, the servant of the Most High says
Muhammad ibn Daniel al-Mawsili

2. After praising the Most High Ruler
Who has immersed us in generosity and mercy

3. Then salutations after reciting His name
Upon the guiding Prophet, trusted in his rule

4. And his companions, the just
Witnesses to the Messenger's truth

5. So I have included in these verses
News of all who have ruled Egypt

6. Of all the judges and governors
Since the state of Islam ruled it

7. Starting with ibn al-Aas, that is Amr
And so on

8. But I have chosen prose
To briefly list them, if the words are concise

9. To form a necklace of pearls
Easing the mention of the noble one

10. The universal, the active, the sole
Full moon of perfection, the venerable Muhammed

11. Namely, al-Katani ibn Ibrahim
The eminent, noble one

12. Chief judge and imam of the time
Mufti of both groups in Egypt

13. I composed it as a means to him
Relying on none but him in the world

14. He remains a sheltering cloak upon us
Sending the grace of his rest upon us

15. And here I begin the mention
With praise of the One of perfect praise, eternally besought

16. The first to take on judiciary
Was Qays, the gallant knight of ‘Adi ibn Sahm

17. And it went to Ka’b al-Absi after him
Then to Uthman without confusion

18. Then Sulaym son of ‘Itr took over
And after him al-Sa’ib son of ‘Amr

19. Then Walid al-Muradi took over
And after him ibn al-Nadr in the country

20. And it went to Abdelrahman
Then to Malik son of Khawlan

21. And after him Yunus took over judiciary
Then Aws with resolute determination

22. Then Abdelrahman took over
Then after that, Imran

23. And after him, it went to Abdelaziz
And ibn Budayj of supreme glory

24. Then to that judge Abdullah
Then it came to Iyad

25. And it returned to judiciary by decree
Son of Hujayra, the knight, the Khawlani

26. Then to Iyad again
Then to Abdullah without hesitation

27. And al-Hadhrami, then to al-Khayyar
Then Yazid appears in reports

28. And after repentance and good
To ibn Salam, of every good

29. This was in the days of Banu Abbas
Naim, strong of foundation, returned

30. Then Ghawth after that ruled
Then Yazid, know that

31. And Ghawth returned after Ibrahim
And al-Hadhrami after him, supported

32. Then to Isma’il son of Layth who sufficed
Then Ghawth followed him, best of followers

33. And after that al-Mufaddal took over
Then Abu al-Tahir, that superior one

34. Then al-Mufaddal the trustee ruled
Then ibn Masruq, who did no injustice

35. Then al-Nujaybi succeeded him
And al-Umari, how noble

36. And after him al-Bakri and ibn al-Baka
Then ibn Isa the most pious worshipper

37. And al-Aslami, ruler of Sharia
Then ibn Isa named Lahi’a

38. Then to Ibrahim son of al-Qari
Then to Ibrahim of supreme glory

39. Then judiciary came to Isa
And after him Harun the imam

40. Then son of Shaddad took over judiciary
And after him al-Harith, best of the generous

41. And after Dahim al-Ansari took over
Judge of judges al-Bikar became

42. Muhammad ibn Abdah took over
Then Abu Zur’a when he assumed office

43. Then ibn Abdah took over judiciary
And he was in the highest position

44. Then ibn Harb and Abu al-Dhikr judged
Before al-Kurizi for a time among nations

45. And al-Juwahiri, an excellent judge
With whom reconciliation occurred

46. And after him Ahmad and ibn Ahmad
And Ahmad a second time increased

47. And they dismissed him for ibn Zubayr to judge
Before Isma’il in times passed

48. Then ibn Muslim and son of Hammad
And al-Sarakhsi and al-Sayrafi with authority

49. And after Abdullah son of Zubayr
And Abu Bakr took over all command

50. Then ibn Abu Zur’a and son of Badr
Before Abdullah son of Zubayr

51. Then son of Badr after Abdullah
Ruled over it, commanding and forbidding

52. Then Abu al-Dhikr assumed authority and al-Hasan
And after him al-Kashi in that time

53. And after that cousin of Walid did not cease
To be its ruler, and his justice did not swerve

54. Then his uncle ibn al-Haddad succeeded him
And after him cousin of Walid returned

55. And after that son of the preacher
Took over judiciary and son of al-Khassib

56. And Muhammad ruled after them
Then Abu al-Tahir, as was known

57. And after that son of al-Nu’man
And his son in that time

58. Then his son, and his brother-in-law al-Husayn
Who was not disgraced in judiciary

59. And after that Malik took over
Then Abu al-Abbas, as is recited

60. And Qasim, then Abu al-Fath took over
And he was not dismissed except for Qasim

61. And they dismissed him for Abu Muhammad
Before Abu Ali al-Musaddad

62. Then ibn Wahb, it came to him afterward
And previously son of Zakaria attained it

63. Then Ahmad was reinstated
Then ibn Wahb, now hear my verse

64. Then ibn Abdelhakim took over rule
Then Qasim returned to it

65. Then Abdelhakim the imam
And Qasim was instructed in the judgments

66. And after him son of Asad took over judiciary
And after him Ahmad, firm in judgment

67. Then son of Abu Kudayna was reappointed
When they approved his conduct and faith

68. Then Ali succeeded him, the facilitator
Then al-Rassafi, beautiful in mention

69. And after him ibn Wahb took over judiciary
And ibn Abi Kudayna, intelligent

70. And after him al-Mulayji in the city
Took over judiciary with ibn Abi Kudayna

71. Then al-Yazuri succeeded him
And ibn Kudayna without untruth

72. And after him al-Irqi and al-Qada’i
Took over judiciary in truth without contention

73. Then majesty of the state ibn al-Qasim
Returned and took over, best of rulers

74. And after him son of Nubata took over
And son of al-Kahhal of superiority

75. Then al-Mulayji and al-Mukarrami
Then Abu al-Tahir of generosity

76. And after him son of Dhaka took over judiciary
And after him al-Husayn, likewise intelligent

77. Then ibn Badr and Abu al-Fadl judged
Before al-Saqli and Abu al- Fadl al-Rida

78. And after him ibn Dhafir took over
And ibn al-Husayn of the highest position

79. Then Abu al-Fath, Yusuf took over
And each of them was of greatest worth

80. Then son of al-Maysar succeeded him
I mean glory of the king, pride of the magnificent

81. Then Abu al-Fakhr and son of Ja’far
Then Muhammad took over unopposed

82. And after this al-Ru’ayni took over
Then glory of the king without blemish

83. And after him son of Uqayl did not stop
And ibn Husayn became the ruler

84. And ibn Salama and son of al-Muqaddasi
So he had the finest position among them

85. And ibn Mukarram and son of ‘Ali
Then glory of the faith of virtues

86. Then al-Aziz and Abu al-Fath took over
And after him son of Kamil was reappointed

87. And after that in the days of the Ghuzz
The glorious, knowledgeable and mighty

88. Abdulmalik ibn Isa took it over
Before Ali the noble chief

89. Then ibn Asrun took over rule
And purity of the faith returned, he was the highest

90. And al-Sukkari and Abu Muhammad
Before ibn majesty of the state

91. Then Yusuf al-Sanjari succeeded him
And glory of the faith appears in reports

92. And after him Muhawwab, I mean al-Jazri
And al-Khawnaji, then al-Imad al-Hamawi

93. Then Yusuf al-Sanjari was reappointed
Then the crown succeeded him, of glory

94. And al-Burhan, I mean al-Khadra, took over judiciary
And the crown of the faith returned in its entirety

95. Then the righteous Muhyi al-Din took over
And ibn Ruzayn of refined wisdom

96. And after dismissing him, Umar took over
I mean the scholar, and he commanded justice

97. Then ibn Ruzayn was reappointed and judged
After purity of the faith, justice among nations

98. Then the eminent Bahnasi took over judiciary
Appointed after the pious one's judgment

99. And when he resigned due to the distance from Cairo
He favored it with his command

100. Then al-Shahab, they raised his position
And summoned him from judiciary of al-Mahalla

101. And he remained until demise took him
And judiciary of Damascus went to the young ibn Ahmad

102. Then the pious ibn Khalaf took over judiciary
After the eminent and the departed Shahab

103. And they dismissed him from judiciary of Cairo
Then the chief of the Sanjaris succeeded him

104. Then the pious Abdelrahman
And the full moon appeared when it appeared

105. And the full moon returned to Damascus
Then the scholar took over rule

106. And he remained until judiciary took him
Then the pious Abu al-Fath, pleased

107. And when the bathhouse accident befell him
The full moon returned in full

108. A shining full moon, perfect in description
Judge of judges, ruler of rulers

109. Mediator of systems and organization
His rulings remain authoritative

110. And his days perpetually flourishing
No full moon has risen like it, perfect in brilliance

111. Nor a crescent shone from its hiding place
And praise be to God for His blessings

112. And the excellence of the judgments He strengthened
And the most excellent prayers and peace

113. Upon the Prophet, master of mankind
And his family, companions and progeny

114. And all who were sincere in their love of him
