1. O Abū Shākir, O you who transcended every rank
And climbed beyond the station of praise and thanks

2. My family brought me today various delicacies
But they delayed them until the evening

3. I got them but I had nothing
Except their bread, butter and honey

4. And if the plant nectar restricted me
I will draw from what I seek from the sea

5. And I have nothing to do with the rain and the sea suffices me
And the easiest thing it gives me is pure pearls

6. And if the nectar they prepared was sweetened
Then its sender made a mistake for everyone forever

7. So you have remained as sweet as a rose, pleasant as a paradise
Abundant in life and virtue, generous in spirit
