Is a book from the Merciful illuminated with light

3. I met it, a strong and mighty fortress
Fortified with God's verses, radiant and bright

4. In the night when talismans are like armed hosts
Victorious is he who holds its banner of might

5. When the enemy sees it with its bearer
They retreat, overpowered without a fight

6. Glorious it shines in souls, revered
Honored, cherished by eyes with delight

7. How many bearers when seeing it were freed
As bonds dissolved, once stubborn and tight

8. How many blind, its words made seeing
As soon as they beheld its healing sight

9. A bleeding woman, it stanched her flows
And stopped her hemorrhaging, once a plight

10. A widow, bereft of husband, it made
Her affairs with suitors easy and right

11. O what a protection, warding all evil
More powerful than any emperor's might
