1. The Eid has returned bearing good fortune
So rejoice in it despite the envious

2. And Ramadan has departed in armies
Of blessed rukus and sujoods

3. And we saw Shawwal unveil
A crescent, saying "My shackles are undone"

4. So we sought out the wine jars, with nary
A drop left, having drunk it to the dregs

5. And the kingdom of flutes and refined
Tambourines came with plots for the prey

6. Receive them, O masters of rhythm, with a
Duff duff duff and a tan tan with the lute

7. And sing lal lala with the flute either
In Basit Murajjah or a song

8. And pour the spirit copiously like a
Crowning vine dripping with clustered grapes

9. And with a babbling of loving kisses that
Would shame the rose in its blooming

10. From a flirting gazelle with bewitching
Eyes that hunt their prey of lions

11. With hips that rise like a sand dune and a
Neck that bends like a branch of a willow
