1. After you, cheeks were slapped and palms clasped,
At the time of marriage, the heavy and light burdens became equal.

2. The noise of the camels rose in sorrow,
And the remorseful gazed sadly upon joy.

3. The tears of the cheeks flowed until,
From them, the bleeding became like bleeding.

4. The candle appeared, weeping from the flowing
Of tears - the eyes of a man, extinguished.

5. O Imam of renouncing the judge's invitation,
In the case of immorality, there is no injustice.

6. How did you taste humility? Is it sweet,
My witty one, by Allah, or hot?

7. May Allah affirm the repentance of the Sheikh,
For asceticism is not endured by the weak.

8. You are in desire, with the gatherer of the eye,
And the chaste one - where is the chaste one from you?

9. In Ghadeer and Rawdah, in the shade
Fruits have hung upon you from it.

10. Do not remain in the settled abode, for none
Remains in the settlement except the numerous.

11. And if you stand for prayer, then stand humbly,
Thirsty, for you are pure.

12. And if you descend into the seclusion of the mosque,
Say to the devotee: “I have guests.”

13. And if you take out your bag with knowledge,
Say to those present: “This is empty.”

14. Good is your simple asceticism, for you
Are not among the elders except witty.

15. I swear by the scarcity of separation - I
Am parched with longing for the meeting, anxious.

16. Do I hope for your quick return,
Yearning for you, and the lover is kind?

17. Do not say: “I have worn wool,” for the
Ram, his cloak is wool, with the horn.

18. It excites the sheep, while being like you
In melody - the listening of its people, and the lamb.

19. The sheared wool flew from you, with your head shaved
For asceticism, and the combed wool escaped you.

20. It took you away with wine for grass,
Then a plucked-up [blade] inclined to you.

21. And you excelled in tanning leather
After leather until the felted becomes proper.

22. How can crumbs and meat suffice you
After your eating sweets and bread?

23. Arise, entrust yourself to the All-Forgiving, agree
With the livelihood of the renunciants, O felter.

24. For with them are khaa, meem and raa -
What are these letters, by Allah?

25. Revealer of the people in what they have concealed
It is a state, O our Sheikh, unveiled.

26. How many a night we spent it in a tavern
And over us in it, cups revolved.

27. Before the pillion of saddles, sniffing
Reached the rooms from its smelled breaths.

28. Some creatures of it spent the night with us, and what
Is distorted from the saying: “Confirmed.”

29. O Abu Murrah, hasten to this Sheikh,
Quickly, before the autumn passes,

30. And the gulf is missed, and the gravel upon it,
And its pebbles, encompassed by the pavement.

31. O Abu Murrah, honor for him the goblet,
So it pours upon him, gently and plentifully.

32. Show him the essence of intimacies with gazelles,
When those fawns are docile.

33. And firewood that spears shake,
And camps as swords are drawn.

34. O Abu Murrah, for my right, lodge him
Gently, for the subtle may obey.

35. Maybe the custom of intimacy will shake him
Longingly, for the compassionate may yearn.
