1. She said, as sorrow unveiled
Its mask of accumulated grief

2. And lamentation weakened the steadfast,
The strong comforter made feeble,

3. "Oh you who suffered his loss,
I sheltered you from suffering,

4. You left me, sorrow still clings,
My companion through the ages,

5. So if you endure out of necessity,
Like the baby camel endures branding,

6. You will see one can bear the sorrow
Or find solace, oh Abu Hasan.

7. A child grew up, his heart
Weeping like a branded camel,

8. His heart too weak to bid farewell
Or bear the sorrow.

9. I answered her, she who cared for me
Without reward,

10. 'Seeking livelihood separates
Loved ones and homeland.

11. Oh Lord, grant me more peace
And rest, which I yearn for restfully.'"
