1. You have served your Lord and chosen qualities
With which He is pleased, Glorious and Exalted

2. So you have obtained ease in obeying Him
And attained that which is difficult for kings

3. Ramadan has never seen in any kingdom
A state like yours, not even close

4. You have pleased your Lord therein when you filled it
With men who fear God throughout the nights

5. And the rituals of the Merciful are established therein
With King Yahya, and the occasions have expanded

6. So you see him clad in garments of piety
Blossoming with the beauty of fasting

7. And in the mornings he listens to the Prophet’s traditions
Thereby honoring speech and deed

8. And at night he is attentive to the call to prayer and supplication
And to the excellent recitation and prostration

9. This is the farewell to it and this is a night
Whose value surpasses a thousand months

10. The angels descend from the Lord of the heavens
And the Spirit is sent towards you

11. So receive glad tidings of rewards from your Lord
Whose good deeds are multiplied in recompense

12. And a king who unites you for righteousness
And removes heavy burdens

13. The Book of God appears open before him
That he may see and read what He has stated

14. And he returns while the reciters around him
Correct what he misses, removing all ambiguity

15. Have you seen a king like Yahya in this way
Forgetting worldly matters in obeying his Lord?

16. He is a mountain, still, with in his chest
What other mountains do not possess

17. He faces events without bothering with
What passes him by left and right

18. His good fortune broke conventions, so he sufficed
With its making on the day of battle as equipment

19. Whoever among you wants to see a sign
Of his fortune that sets examples

20. Then let him look to those who exhausted
The seat of the caliphate and picked its locks

21. Is there among them, were it not for Majid’s good fortune
Anyone who can face those tribulations?

22. Never! Were it not for Sa’d Yahya leading them
None would have reached its flank

23. It is in the sky like a star, but his good fortune
When it was provoked overturned conditions

24. And he saw the foreigners taking over his affairs
And the infants wearing his crown

25. And the decree came to pass from our Lord
In anger over Yahya and the Saud hills

26. Until when the king took refuge in his family
And forgot the brief wind he had ruled

27. They tried to impose their customs
On the kings, forgiving blunders

28. So they split into two groups: a reasonable group
That recognized guidance and did not substitute misguidance

29. And they saw you as the most pious of both worlds, that
Without you no man would have attained what he attained

30. So they disavowed them and honored the one
Who wronged them in his ignorance, the ignoramuses

31. You erased them, like erasing usury, and showed them
Killing and banishment, leaving no pretender

32. The slaves went out, thinking they would deprive
Anticipating messages and correspondence

33. While they were fewer and you were beyond need of them
So they were snatched up and their limbs cut off

34. And they saw such humiliation that they even
Ate their palms in regret and agony

35. Because of your indifference towards them, people now see them
Like dogs, killing the innocent

36. The tribes recommend each other to kill them
So that your parents may find enjoyment

37. Oh woe to whoever you are not pleased with when he distances himself
What loss and affliction going out brings him!

38. Their women were sold, their sons and daughters sold
And the men went to fight

39. Whoever was your enemy, your Lord was his enemy
Have you seen one who opposes God as an opponent?

40. If you wish, strike them quickly with your sword in vengeance
Or if you wish, reprieve them with postponement

41. For the swords of your Lord have sufficed you, and how often
Has the Lord of the heavens sufficed the believers from fighting!

42. The slaves and people of Mora set fire
To anger you, to their homes and money

43. Do you see their homes were destroyed by others?
Minds have certainly been afflicted with insanity

44. They ruined their livelihood though they were wealthy
And their pampered women were lazy

45. They went out with them to the wilds and tried
To find shade but found no shade

46. Those soft delicate bodies changed
And withered, all withered

47. Affliction befell them and they lived a life
With which torment there was prolonged

48. If you knew the extent of their weak minds
You would see it is enough retribution for all

49. It would not have been so had they left their homes and repaired
They would have found for themselves a Lord and majesty

50. Whoever opposes you continues to harm himself
Until he sees the weakness of affliction and affliction

51. O Lord, Yahya is for generosity
He revived customs that have passed

52. O Lord, let him know, for he will not cease
A king for whom no attainment is beyond reach

If the angels were to describe someone He would not be pleased
