صقل الحسام أثارة من حده

٩. والليل لولا شبهه في افقه

١٠. وكذا السحاب يروق منه سواده
فيما اضاء ببرقه وبرعده
11. Give me back my heart if you do not show compassion
For the excuse is not valid in rejecting it
١١. ردوا عليَّ القلب أن لم تعطفوا
فالعذر ليس بجائز في رده
12. I am a man who accompanied time, so it protected him
From foolishness, a heart protected by its guidance
١٢. انيى امرؤ صحب الزمان فصانه
عن غيه قلب يصان برشده
13. And if the beloved called and turned away
From me and spent the night avoiding my quest
١٣. وإذا الخليل نبا وأعرض جانباً
عني وبات منكبا عن قصده
14. My paths did not become confused to me, and I did not spend my time
Complaining of the bitterness of his abandonment
١٤. لم تشتبه سبلى عليَّ ولم أبت
متشكيا منه حرارة فقده
15. I remain protected by the minister, who gave me

١٥. أبقاي في كنف الوزير أقام لي
أملا يقل الدهر صادق وعده
16. A hope with which I warded off misfortunes, though now
I am a prisoner in the fetters of its consequence
١٦. أمل دفعت به الخطوب فجيدها
أمسي اسيراً في حبائل حده
17. And if I called he answered decisively
Like a sword when you unsheathe it from its scabbard
١٧. وإذا دعوت أجابني بعزيمة
كالسيف حين تسله من غمده

كالدر عند نظامه في عقده

٢٠. يا سيد الوزراء دعوة باذل
في الود والتفويض غاية جهده
21. You who broadened people with your justice
And your grace, pardon and assistance
٢١. أنت الذي وسع الأنام بعدله
وبفضله وبعفوه وبرفده
22. You built the edifice of generosity with Ahmed
Pride that lasts long in the honorable with its happiness
٢٢. لبنى معيبد الكرام بأحمد
فخر يطول على الفخار بسعده
23. Like the sea, it surged, though its depth
Were pearls flooding from its calm bed
٢٣. كالبحر جاش وإنما حسباؤه
درر تفيض به قرارة مده
24. Like a mountain, neither the winds of misfortunes
Sway his forbearance, nor does he break his promise
٢٤. كالطود ليس يجل جلوه حلمه
ريح الخطوب ولا يحول بعهده
25. Adversities shrink before him humbly
And adversity shows its beauty through its opposite
٢٥. تتضاءل الاضداد عنه تقاصراً
والضد يظهر حسنه في ضده
26. Caravans sing his praises, so that he still
Seeks richness through his gifts
٢٦. يغني الوفود لقاه حتى أنه
مازال يلتمس الغنى من رفده
27. He is the consummate being in his existence, the most clement
In his forbearance, the most steadfast in his purpose
٢٧. هو حاتم في وجوده هو أحنف
في حلمه هو حيدر في جده
28. Look, Taki Al-Din, though you may be absent
The expert's gaze upon its coldness
٢٨. انظر تقي الدين إن تك غائباً
نظر الخبير في برده
29. And its branch, that is its origin, so its position
From it is the position of the palm propped up with its base
٢٩. فرع وذلك أصله فمحله
منه محل الكف نيط بزنده
30. O minister, and whoever has
Generosity reaching the utmost limit
٣٠. يا أيها المولى الوزير ومن له
كرم ينوب الوصف غاية حده
31. You have improved this world together
So may it remain safe from the bitterness of parting
٣١. حسنت بوجهك هذه الدنيا معاً
فلتبق آمنة مرارة قصده
