2. And how strange is the raging fire of my heart,

3. And love did not know the way to my heart,
But that longing showed the way.

4. Oh my patience, how little there is for your separation!
Oh my passion, how great for your love!

5. The dreams have lied when they said that pain
Of love goes away after a month.

6. No, by God, they did not speak truthfully, for yearning
In the heart is destined to last.

7. Oh my liver, melt from the pain of separation!
Oh my eyelids, flow with tears!

8. For I have not found a passion like mine โ€“
A mother gazelle absent from her fawns.

ุชุบูŠุจ ููŠ ู…ุฑุงุชุนู‡ ูุถู„ุงู‘

9. She remained after him yearning for the lofty
Hilltops, exalted and low.

ูฉ. ูุธู„ุช ุจุนุฏู‡ ุชุฑู†ูˆ ุจู…ูˆู‚
ุดูˆุงุฎุต ุชุจุชุฑู‰ ุนู„ูˆุงู‹ ูˆุณูู„ุง

10. And if gazelles of sand approach, she thinks
Him to be among them, watching.

ูกู . ูˆุฅู† ุณู†ุญุช ุธุจุงุก ุงู„ุฏูˆู‘ ุธู†ู‘ุช
ุทู„ุงู‡ุง ุจูŠู† ุฑุจุฑุจู‡ุง ู…ูุทู‘ู„ุง

11. So she exerts herself seeking him in vain,
Not finding him in her ignorance.

ูกูก. ููŠูƒู„ูู‡ุง ุงู„ุดุฌุง ุธูุฑุง ุงู„ูŠู‡ุง
ูุชุนุชุณู ุงู„ูู„ุง ุชุจุบูŠู‡ ุฌู‡ู„ุง

12. When she loses hope of seeing him, she sighs
With a burning unlike any bereaved woman.

ูกูข. ูู„ู…ุง ูุงุชู‡ุง ู„ู‚ูŠุงู‡ ุฃู†ู‘ุช
ู„ุญุฑู‚ุฉ ู…ุง ุชุญุณ ุฃู†ูŠู† ุซูƒู„ู‰

13. A sigh echoing people whose blood
Was spilled by the sword the next morning.

ูกูฃ. ุฃูู†ูŠู† ุตุฏู‰ ู„ุฃู‚ูˆุงู… ูˆู‡ุงู…
ู†ุฌูŠุน ุฏู…ูŽุงุฆู‡ู… ุจุงู„ุณูŠู ุทู„ุง

14. The Quran consoling him when the swords
Of Muhammadโ€™s enemies slew him.

ูกูค. ูŠู†ุงุฌูŠู‡ ุงู„ู‚ุฑุงู† ุบุฏุงุฉ ุฃุฎู„ุช
ุณูŠูˆู ู…ุญู…ุฏู ุฃุนุฏุงู‡ ู‚ุชู„ุง

15. The Commander of the Faithful, when fortune
Turned away from the world after him.

ูกูฅ. ุฃู…ูŠุฑูŽ ุงู„ู…ุคู…ู†ูŠู† ูˆู…ู† ุชูˆุงู„ุช
ุนู„ู‰ ุงู„ุฏู†ูŠุง ุงู„ู…ุณุฑุฉู ู…ุฐุชูˆู„ู‘ู‰

16. The Imam of all the Imams together,
He assumed leadership when his father did.

ูกูฆ. ุฅูู…ุงู… ู„ู„ุงุฆู…ุฉ ุฃุฌู…ุนูŠู‡ู…
ุชูˆู„ู‰ ุญูŠู† ูˆุงู„ุฏู‡ ุชูˆู„ู‘ู‰

17. The humblest of them in spirit when praying
The bravest when the sword struck.

ูกูง. ูˆุงุฎุดุนู‡ู… ุฅุฐุง ุตู„ู‰ ูุคุงุฏุงู‹
ูˆุงุดุฌุนู‡ู… ุฅุฐุง ู…ุง ุงู„ุณูŠู ุตู„ุง

18. He assumed his fatherโ€™s rule, then when
He was called, leadership was his.

ูกูจ. ู„ูˆุงู„ุฏู‡ ุงู„ุฎู„ุงูุฉ ุซู… ู„ู…ุง
ุฏุนุง ูู„ู‡ ุงู„ุฎู„ุงูุฉ ุจุนุฏ ุฎู„ุง

19. And God granted him a noble son
Who shone like a star when it shines.

ูกูฉ. ูˆู‚ุฏ ูˆู‡ุจูŽ ุงู„ุฅูู„ู‡ ู„ู‡ ู†ุฌูŠุจุงู‹
ุชุฌู„ู‘ู‰ ูƒุงู„ู†ู‡ุง ุฅูุฐุง ุชุฌู„ู‘ู‰

20. โ€˜Ali son of Muhammad is told to be perfection
In word and deed, Ali son of Muhammad.

ุนู„ูŠ ุจู† ู…ุญู…ุฏ ู‚ูˆู„ุงู‹ ูˆูุนู„ุง

21. Blessings on him who ruled kingdoms
And blessings on al-Mansur after him.

ูขูก. ูุจูˆุฑูƒ ู…ู†ุณู„ุงู‹ ู…ู„ูƒ ุงู„ุจุฑุงูŠุง
ูˆุจูˆุฑูƒ ุจุนุฏู‡ ุงู„ู…ู†ุตูˆุฑ ู†ุณู„ุง

22. He will fill the earth with justice like his
Grandfather and father filled it.

ูขูข. ุณูŠู…ู„ุง ุงู„ุฃุฑุถ ุนุฏู„ุงู‹ ู…ุซู„ ู…ุงู‚ุฏ
ู…ู„ุงู‡ุง ุฌุฏู‡ ูˆุฃุจูˆู‡ ุนุฏู„ุง

23. And he will reside where lofty tents are pitched,
Filling the land with horses and men.

ูขูฃ. ูˆุชุฑูƒุฒ ุญูŠุซู ุฎูŠู…ุชู ุงู„ุนูˆุงู„ูŠ
ูˆูŠู…ู„ุง ุจุฑู‘ู‡ุง ุฎู’ูŠู„ุงู‹ ูˆุฑุฌู„ุง

24. He and his father have no equal,
Just as his father the pure had none before.

ูขูค. ูู„ูŠุณ ู„ู‡ ูˆู„ุง ู„ุฃุจูŠู‡ ุดูƒู„ูŒ
ูˆู„ุง ู„ุฃุจูŠู‡ ุฐุงูƒ ุงู„ุทู‡ุฑู ู‚ุจู„ุง

25. For what is the feast, in truth, but that we
See him independent on the pulpits?

ูขูฅ. ูู…ุง ุงู„ุนูŠุฏู ุงู„ุญู‚ูŠู‚ุฉ ุบูŠุฑ ุฃู†ู‘ุง
ู†ุฑุงู‡ู ุนู„ู‰ ุงู„ู…ู†ุงุจุฑู ู…ูุณุชู‚ู„ุง

26. He scatters pearls in preaching, filling
The hearts with fear when he fills them.

ูขูฆ. ูŠุณุงู‚ุทู ู„ุคู„ุคุงู‹ ููŠ ุงู„ูˆุนุธ ูŠูŽู…ู„ุง
ู‚ู„ูˆุจ ุงู„ุฎู„ู‚ ุฎูˆูุงู‹ ุญูŠู† ูŠู…ู„ุง

27. Their hearts palpitate from your preaching,
And their tears flow copiously in the place of prayer.

ูขูง. ู‚ู„ูˆุจู‡ู… ุจูˆุนุธูƒ ุฎุงูู‚ุงุชูŒ
ูˆุฃุฏู…ุนู‡ู… ู‡ูˆุงู…ู„ู ููŠ ุงู„ู…ุตู„ู‘ู‰

28. Then he emerges to a insolent one
Riding a mare faster than the wind when it is old,

ูขูจ. ูˆูŠุจุฑุฒ ุจุนุฏ ุฐุงูƒ ุนู„ู‰ ูˆู‚ุงุญู
ู…ุทู‡ู…ุฉ ุชููˆุช ุงู„ุฑูŠุญ ูƒู‡ู„ุง

29. Its figure cutting through the cavalry with claws -
No shape among the horses can match it.

ูขูฉ. ุชูŽู‚ุทุน ุดูƒู„ู‡ุง ููŠ ุงู„ุตู„ ุธูุฑุงู‹
ูู…ุง ุชู„ู‚ู‰ ู„ู‡ุง ููŠ ุงู„ุฌูŽุฑุฏ ุดูŽูƒู„ุง

30. As if its silver skin were ornamented
With a yellow dye of saffron.

ูฃู . ูƒุฃูŽู† ุฃุฏูŠู…ู‡ุง ุงู„ูุถูŠ ู„ู…ุง
ุชู„ู…ู‘ูŽุน ุตูุฑุฉ ุจุงู„ุชู‘ุจุฑ ูŠูุทู„ูŠ

31. And if you give it rein, you find it
Lighter of hand and foot than a carcass.

ูฃูก. ูˆุงู† ูŠูˆุดู‰ ุงู„ุนู†ุงู† ู„ู‡ุง ุชุฌุฏู‡ุง
ุฃุฎูู‘ูŽ ู…ู† ุงู„ูˆุฌูŠู ูŠุฏุงู‹ ูˆุฑุฌู„ุงู‹

32. The Imam rides it at dawn, appearing
Like the sun on the highest horizon.

ูฃูข. ููŠุฑูƒุจู‡ุง ุงู„ุฅูู…ุงู… ุถุญู‰ู‹ ููŠุจุฏูˆ
ูƒุดู…ุณู ุงู„ุฃูู‚ ููŠ ุงู„ูู„ูƒ ุงู„ู…ุนู„ู‘ู‰

33. Armies around him race the best steeds,
Crossing flat land and steep.

ูฃูฃ. ุญูˆุงู„ูŠู‡ ุงู„ุฌูŠูˆุด ุนู„ู‰ ุงู„ู…ุฐุงูƒูŠ
ุชุฌูˆุจ ุงู„ุฎูŠุฑ ู„ุง ูˆุนุฑุงู‹ ูˆุณู‡ู„ุง

34. Flags are unfurled for him until
We see him shaded by them there.

ูฃูค. ูˆู‚ุฏ ู†ูุดุฑุช ู„ู‡ ุงู„ุฃุนู„ุงู…ู ุญุชู‰
ู†ุฑุงู‡ ุจู‡ุง ู‡ู†ุงู„ูƒ ู…ุณุชุธู„ุง

35. The kettledrums in the calls to prayer -
We liken them to the voice of thunder.

ูฃูฅ. ูˆู„ู„ูƒูˆุณุงุช ููŠ ุงู„ุขุฐุงู† ูˆุญูŠ
ู†ุดุจู‡ู‡ ุจุตูˆุช ุงู„ุฑุนุฏ ู…ุซู„ุง

36. He returns in procession solemnly
To a palace of lofty pillars.

ุฅู„ู‰ ู‚ุตุฑ ู…ู† ุงู„ุนูŠู‘ูˆู‚ ุฃูŽุนู„ู‰

37. May my Creator eternally greet him
With a greeting that never leaves him.
