1. The blackness of the eyes or the whiteness of the meadows
Shines upon us while the souls overflow

10. And if you stray with her hair, with her mouth
A guide, its radiance and smile lead you

11. I laughed with her a pearl, I cried for the like of her
A tear, but her pearls are refused

12. My mind is with me, if a critic blames me about her
And holding back from violence with it is grasped

13. Blame is temptation when love intensifies
And chastity in it when it rages is provocation

14. Unhappiest of lovers is he who came enamored
Ignorantly, for his coming is abhorrence

15. If the death of yearning is prescribed in the law of love before me
Then my death in love is mandatory

16. He who names his desire may attain it if he does not attain
From Ahmad with hyena part of it bounds

17. The victorious son of the sublime most noble
To a dominion whose king of kings is most low

18. A king whom you see when hopes are cut off
Lion risings and kings are cowed

19. Achieving perfection is passionate, and in it is hardship
Its overwhelming upon people is hated

20. O you who tries to fight him, be content
From the horizons of the triumphing one, for you are a gnat

21. You are not his equal in acquiring virtues
Where is the heart compared to the sea that overflows?

22. The difference between the sun at noon and the stars
In light is evident, no ambiguity in it

23. In his palm for generosity are five oceans
Flowing, while in your palm is dryness

24. The lion, you were not more compassionate than it in valor
And the sea from abundance almost overflows

25. A king who sees the expanse of the desert as a mile
And sees the seas agitated, so he plunges

26. Clemency which his strong judgment supports
In pardon, an opinion no contrary thwarts

27. And resolves for you, if they were stamped as swords
Not repelled by them would be the white

28. What you do not violate is not inviolable
Ever, and you have no violated annulled

29. With religion and the world you guaranteed but did not
Deprive your eyelids of their truthful right

30. Writs whose wisdom he examines and regiments
He dispatched spreading dread in the lands bounding

31. And high principles he establishes with virtues
And pure methods the lands rule and tame

32. A fruitless king and glorifying guidance
A right established and falsehood ousted

33. I ransom you, my virtues were counted to me
As bad deeds and in satire affirming

34. I blamed time, so he blamed me, who blamed me
And revealed by his hinting

35. And I have lost, and you know better than them
An intimacy and kindness with no compensation

36. And approval, and losing your approval is no slight
In my view, so resigning to you is proper

37. By Allah, if not for what wishes inform me
About you, and what I know affirmed

38. I would not live but for fate to pass
And the resolve to resign be carried out

39. They appease him with a covenant incoming
Treacherous ones, whose treachery is hated

40. You blame me for the utmost in loyalty
My hearing your blame in loyalty is refused

41. My care is His approval, and your care is His wealth
Each to what he desires overflows

42. And you wondered when I sang of His wealth
That loss of Him stirs grief

43. Wealth is not regrettable, do you see
In what you view, supererogatory and mandatory equal?

44. You did not know the value of what you were given
And what I was given, so I am keen

45. If there were a wise one among you, he would not blame me
And restraint would be more proper than incitement

46. Is the loss of a hope-giving affection slight
In your view the meadow of wishes in His approval I pick?

47. O you who criticizes me in my absence
Do not blame me, for events recur

48. You will then excuse me though you say
I do not regret, for the country is in turmoil

49. In it the position of an ungrateful one, and in the land from it
No refuge, nor in the earth a dissuader

50. You blamed me, may the afflicted recover
And cry out from what ails the sick
